CLEAN car!!! Love the digital dash!!! Great looking T/A, words just dont say enough. Jealous of the center console you were able to steal off this site.

Appreciate the compliments. I'll say the digital dash isn't all that great. The only thing that is highly accurate is of course the speedometer. The volt, water, and oil pressure gages can be difficult to decipher because of the increments they used. Another common problem is the odometer section. They're not as reliable as today's digital technology so many folks have issues with their odmeters tracking mileage. If you can't see the numbers, it doesn't track mileage. The thing that I hate most is driving and certain times of the day towards the sun, you can barely see it. At night, it looks very cool.

Really? The mileage thing i know from a vette that was for sale around here, said 24k on the OD but carfax showed 220k+ lol. It looks cool nonetheless, just wish it wasnt such an expensive job to do. May some limo tint could fix that contrast problem unless your driving with ttops or convertible.
charlielamb I love that black Formula! I wish I coulda found a decent one for sale in my neck of the woods. I had an 87 Formula and have always liked the 91-92 Formula better than any other 3rd gen.
the sun light makes the interior look more grey than black but its jet black. im just a crappy photographer. Mine is a 1989 Formula 350 with WS6 package. Currently 45k miles.

Reason: addition
Mudskunk, 45k? On rebuilt motor? Clean car! Love the formula, especially the hood, not so much the stock wheels. Maybe throw on some irocs like charlielambs?

thanks but its 45k original miles. it was originaly purchased by a guy taht couldnt afford the payments and it got repoed before anything could be changed by the owner. it sat for a long time then a gentleman on the east coast that was a muscle car collector bought it and drove it very little. most of the miles came from the original owner. when obama shoved the economy from a little bad into full blown recession the collector decided to sell and i found it and bought it.
its got some minor flaws in the interior and paint taht the pics dont show. lots of surface scratches from buffing machines taht i cant get out without tearing up the paint. so i am having it painted over the winter. havent truly decided what black i want but its going to be shiny and deep gloss. the headliner needs replacing the rear hatch lift motor needs adjusting and the drivers door upholstery is pooching out at the top. it also needs a new spoiler. neither owner did much in the way of up keep on the interior and i have been gradually fixing the minor flaws. so its got about 4 or 5 things left before it is 100%. the only sad part is that i am putting it into storage very soon for the winter
the wheels im keeping i have always liked the wheels that came with them. i used to own a 86 formula t-top with 305 i bought new in 86 my brother got in a wreck and totalled it while i was in the army and have always wanted one to replace it. i would have loved t-tops but the winters here are very harsh and i dont think the freezing and thawing would do the seals well so i went hardtop.
so i am shooting for 100% stock with only stock available options. i have had people offer to buy for a lot more than i paid for it and a lot of oohs and ahhs since right now unless i point out the flaws or someone goes and sticks their nose right on it they dont really notice the paint is scratched to hell or the cracks in the spoiler or the drooping headliner.
i replaced the radio with the UXM1 pontiac monsoon 12 disc cd changer which was a dealer option at the time. the only things that arent stock are the speakers. the original ones 3 of 4 had ripped cones and sounded like sht. so replaced em with pioneer drop ins from crutchfield. it sounds better than my truck's bose system.
i had the choice of any car i wanted for a summer driver and chose a third gen. could have bought a new 2010 vette or the new camaro but third gen firebird formulas have always been the most beautiful cars ever made to me. the best thing of it is it has never been messed with. it is just one of those cars that got lucky and never ended up with someone that wanted to add nitrous or rip the interior apart or some such thing.
VERY lucky to have 45k original miles, good lookin car. I agree with the preference of newer vs older cars/firebirds. Love the 3rd gen camaros and firebirds. Couldnt be happier with my choice vs making payments on a new vette or camaro.
cutlassman14, looks like mine lol. New paint??? Looks good. Quick question, are your wheels' lips bigger in front than in back? Cuz I think mine are and I noticed the same set up on yours. Was this just how these honeycomb wheel set came? Still love the wheels anyway.
So, here comes my car...I always claim I have it for scaring little boys (jap-drivers)...they seem to be offended when beaten by a 21-year old girl in a standard (soon to be nitrous) "old yankee"...lol, love it!
race ´08
heard she stood in a barn, and talked the owner to sell it to me. here´s the first wiew I had of her;
with the ´09 wheels...
´08, weekly gatherings in a park;
tried her on the track (oh, we where terrible slow!)

in that picture with the black rims are those stock enkei rims off of a mitsubishi lancer? they look just like the ones my friend has on his tiburon
Nope, It´s a 17´ JP Falcon rim, a swedish brand that no longer exists... :P
(off topic - there is a huge interest for yankee cars in scandinavia, did you know?)

MAKS the GTA rims (honey combs which are what the early years style rims are called and or BBS rims) come factory with a different offset for the rears. The front are deeper dish so it can clear the tie rod ends. FYI you can run 4 fronts on the car but can NOT run 4 rear all the way around.

Ok, yea I would think the deeper dish would be in the rear but makes sense. Good to know that I can the deep dish all around, thanks for the info!!!
Saber, I see your in tampa. What part u from? Is your friends roomates name Phil? Yea I bought the car I believe in August off of craigslist. Love the car so far!
Bully dawg, sick interior!!! Wish I had 4th gen leather seats. I thought I saw red seats before but nice combo black/red inside.
It did have red seats, but they were tore up, I got a killer deal on a fully set of 4th gen seats... Never looked back. 4th gen seats are a great mod imo.
Noboost, what size spacers u runnin on the honeycombs?
2" in the rear and stock rear wheels in the front.
The rear rims were not factory gta wheels they were 16x8 i beleive with a weird offset but the looked good imo
