86 TA Drivetrain build
Ok everyone, I have another thread on the rust repair in the body section, they I realized that this section would be a perfect spot for this.
Ok what I have is a 1986 Trans Am that I am restoring to what I want it to be. So far I havereplaced the the floor pans and done some patch work but I still have some little spots left, I por-15ed everything, floor pans (top and bottom) and the engine bay, I then put a top coat on the engine bay to keep the sun from ruining it. I plan on leaving the engine bay how it is even if I don't make the car black.
The engine and trans: the engine is a 350 out of a 1979 Camaro, It has a rebuild with a mild cam, backed to it is a Borg Warner T-5. I dont care if its not a good combo its what I want. I still need to get the fuel pressure regulator and headers to even think of getting it started, and then that awesome wiring that we all love, I have to find out where all of it goes since I didnt label 1 thing , So I got my Haynes manual and Im goin to dive right in
For the exhaust I plan on doing LT's with either tru duals or side pipes, whichever I have the least amount of problem with and like the sound of will goo on, but Im open to other options on the exhaust.
When I get the money I will completly upgrade my suspension, Coilovers with an 1" drop if it doesnt affect the exhaust too much. As for the rear Im leaving it how it is, but I will pull it and clean the area of the gas tank and paint the rear

looking good so far.
look into ground control weight jacks in place of the coil-overs, they are nice too, a bit cheaper, allow adjustability and dont affect front wheel width.

Re: 86 TA Drivetrain build
Ok everyone Im having a difficult time deciding what will be better for headers. the hedmen LTs or just shortys, if I went the Lt i dnt know how much ground clearance I would have, but with the shortys Id atleast use the stock route
Any ideas, Im going to be getting them soon
