new pics of my 92 yellow bird
grabbed a few pics today, nothing special, but first time out of the garage for DD duty this year
since my last pics, i have added a set of black crosslaces with 245/50/16's, a 92 whale tail spoiler (didnt even have to paint it, found a yellow one!). and the car is a bit lower after suspension work. And 91-92 trans am/gta tail lights.
3.1 auto, original paint, 80k miles now.
the new ride height and suspension is badass
hopefully i will get some better pics this week.
the cars is starting to look really good for my summer beater

i think its about perfect, not stupid low, and i dotn bottom out on anything. i think its 26.5 front and 27.5 rear. rear could drop a little and i might do that this weekend.

Re: new pics of my 92 yellow bird
weight jacks front and rear. both with the bolts up through the frame. So i have adjusters in the hatch area, and under the hood. So mech better than the GC setup have on my 86. I dont have to crawl under the car to adjust.
cut v6 springs in the front, and 2.5 IDx10" 150lb coilover springs in the rear.
the front also has tall balljoints

Re: new pics of my 92 yellow bird
just off the shelf universal jacks, 1 1/8 bolts, nut plates and spring perches. Welded plate in the k-member spring pockets, and made upper seats for the rear that just sit on top of the springs. about 60 bux in parts

Re: new pics of my 92 yellow bird
oh yes, nothing special...
i dont have any pics handy of the underside of the jacks, but its really just a spring and a seat, so...
front bolts are a little too long, used 8" bolts, can get away with a 6" one. Might swap them out later
the only "hint" something hiding under the car
oh, and a adjustable prop i plumbed in over the winter, the small line ended up a little short, so its not as straight asi wanted it, but i'll fix that later. I like how its all tucked up under the master so you can really tell its there
this is what the jacks typically look like, i used various parts front and back from different places

It maybe a bad pic, but it looks like you only have about 3" ground clearance. This is obviously not a dd but just wondering.
Very nice car, good luck with it.

How is the ride? I wanna lower mines but diveways & pot holes here suck. Even some places have rolled curbs at the diveways.

Re: new pics of my 92 yellow bird
rides great, the rear springs are a tad noisy since i have no spring isolators (im adding some soon). I actually very happy with how this car handles. It probably has a lot to do with the light v6 front end, but its incredibly nimble.

Re: new pics of my 92 yellow bird
there are a few threads out there.
front is just UMI tubular arms with delrin bushings, aluminum spring index and ramps installed, weight jacks with cut stock v6 springs, tall balljoints, bump steer adjustable, adjustable wonderbar, custom strut mounts with height adjustment, 1le brakes koni sports and 36mm front bar (a little too much, need a 34)
rear has a home built decoupled torque arm, umi roto-joint LCA's, founders relo-bracket (dont need the adjustment really, they are part of the mumford link), 2.5idx10x150lb spring on weight jacks, on car adjustable koni sports (4th gen), stock 10 bolt with 98-02 f-body discs brakes, and a with a 3pc swaybar mounted on the mumford link rear locator that i put together a couple years back.
No subframe connectors as of now. All in all, pretty solid.
no useful pics

Re: new pics of my 92 yellow bird
Wow i love the way your car looks! ive debating what color i should paint my car and i was debating between Silver,Black again,Or yellow like my dads 2004 F150. The color on my dads truck is Screaming Yellow, its a bit darker than the color of your car. A member that lives by me has almost the same color done. I dont quite remember his Username, but i know it had to do with Motorsports? Maybe it was SONARMOTORSPORTS? Not sure. But thanks so much for the pic man!

Re: new pics of my 92 yellow bird
im about 1 month late getting the car out this year, but its ready for another year of madness.
Last year it looked like this, and i almost got the picture spot on
this year, it looks like this, and apparently the weeds are reclaiming the driveway, they need to be dealt with harshly....
I will be getting some better pics later when there it time, i was going for a cruise this afternoon, but the weather fell apart.
Over the winter the car received a lot, snowballed is a better term. I wanted larger wheels and tires and that led to other supporting mods and this list got out of hand.
-New style UMI a-arms, delrin and tall balljoints as usual
-Kore3 billet hubs, 1lespec +.25" offset
-Baer S6 radial mount front brake setup with 14" 2pc rotors
-Shaft mount bump stops finally went on
-Relocated the steering arm outboard almost 3" and back almost 2" (still messing with this)
-Home fab "upper" wonder bar
-Home fab lower chassis/firewall brace
-18x10.5 Apex wheels and 295/35/18 rubber on all 4 corners
a bunch of small changes to other parts i already had on the car, and more are planned for later this summer.
the best change of they winter... the car now has a t5, so now it feels a little quicker than before, but its still slow.
more will follow...

I've been waiting a while for you to post pictures with the new wheels. Looks great! I will hopefully start swapping brakes and suspension components soon in preparation for an lsx swap just as you have planned. The v6 just runs too well right now. And yes, slow. Ha.

Jamaica Yellow FTW! The taillights/spoiler/wheels and stance really make the car look great. I like the GTA's on it, myself.

Re: new pics of my 92 yellow bird
i put a 10mm spacer on the rear so i did not have to do any sheetmetal work save some light hammering in the front of the well
the front does not require any for me, but i have custom offset hubs that allow this. With stock brakes you would need something like a 7/8" thick spacer

I love it man! the stance the mods, and everything! I have been toying with a fair weather daily driver V6er also... What kind of mileage are you knocking down with that 3.1l?

It may not be the best DD, this one started out as one, and then the mods started, and its gotten out of hand

Re: new pics of my 92 yellow bird
With 10.5" wheels out front, will be a fun street car. I'm glad mine isn't a DD anymore, I've already acquired many door dings, side swipes, scratches, and rock chips with my new DD geo metro. Would be mad if all that happened to my bird. Do you plan on DD'ing it?
