Re: JUST BOUGHT A 87 TA!!!!
Thanks. The body is incredibly straight and paint looks great from 5 feet but I'm a perfectionist so... it's a decent paint job, not a back yard job for sure
Runs awesome, but has some smoke after its been sitting for awhile unstarted, valve seals I'm sure... oil pressure is great... only 127K. Trans works as it should. Doesnt have the torque like my TPI iroc did... but its a good car for 2K IMO...
any thoughts on price?

Re: JUST BOUGHT A 87 TA!!!!
Price seems very fair if it were me selling the car id have to have atleast 2800, in my area they go in similiar shape for 3-4k only thing is wheels but im sure you bargain your way into some for fairly cheap

Re: JUST BOUGHT A 87 TA!!!!
Good deal! Over here in the UK you'd be paying upward of £5000 ($3-4000). Looks nice and clean from the pics. My GTA has had a half-decent respray, got faults and imperfections but liveable with! It all comes down to money (or lack of it) in the end!! Nice car man!

Re: JUST BOUGHT A 87 TA!!!!
Nope, looking to sell the car asap, as its been sitting at my house for a year and I need the space... I have other cars... kinda bought it on a whim when I had a different job and was expecting to have more time for car projects
Should have the body painted within two weekends from now, its straight and doesnt need much work to get it ready
Oh btw, toss the 305 and get a 350 or better JMO

Re: JUST BOUGHT A 87 TA!!!!
Should get some color on this thing tomorrow, my booth is about a foot ot two short and I can't get the front and rear painted properly, so I am going to spray everything from the fenders back tomorrow and then do the fenders, hood and nose next week... I'll post more pics when I get some paint on the beast

Re: JUST BOUGHT A 87 TA!!!!
I would have kept it that dark blue, you don't see many around that color. The lower gray gfx looked like it wasn't quite the right color. I would have just repainted the gfx the proper shade and added the gradient decals they had like the '85's came with between the two colors.

Re: JUST BOUGHT A 87 TA!!!!
1 DOOR AFTER QUICKIE BUFF
3 WET COATS ON THE BODY. 75oz OF MIXED PAINT. I WENT AHEAD AND PAINTED THE FENDERS, MASKED OFF NOSE AND HOOD... TIGHT SPACE
THIS IS ALL THE SPACE I HAD BEHIND THE CAR, IT WAS 3 INCES FROM THE WALL IN THE FRONT. ZIP TIED THIS LIGHT TO THE DOOR...
HAD A SCARE DURING THE FINAL COAT, A WASP FOUND HIS WAY IN AND I THOUGHT HE MIGHT LAND ON THE PAINT AND WALK AROUND, I PUT IT OUT OF MY MIND AND CONCENTRATED ON SPRAYING. CAR WILL LOOK REALLY SWEET AFTER A LIGHT COLOR SAND AND BUFF...

Re: JUST BOUGHT A 87 TA!!!!
Thanks guys!
Just ordered new door weatherstrip and outer window felts as the originals are trashed.
Interior is charcoal colored leather from a 4th gen, and the seats are mint
Painted the car with Summit epoxy primer and Summit Single Stage Acrylic Urethane Topcoat. Third car I've painted with Summit paints, you could say I'm a satisfied customer!
I don't even hate the wheels as much now, though some GTA wheels would be better...

Re: JUST BOUGHT A 87 TA!!!!
I'd really like to tint at least the back window limo black, but the budget doesnt really allow for it.
Anyhow, got it pretty much 99% back together and complete now... new fuzzies and door w-strip (all other w-strip is in great shape) trunk popper works, lift shocks work great on everything. I got the rear wing back on and it doesnt look half bad in epoxy black and the matte finish on it hides the defects pretty much, and all the lights working. Still have a few small spots that need more buffing. No new pics yet but I'll get some soon.
Planning on getting tags and taking it for a 2 hour road trip to a concert end of next week... only thing it really needs bad right now is a tranny flush, it shifts great but the fluid is horribly dirty... hope to get to it before the road trip, but if I don't I feel like it will be fine anyway,
I don't feel bad about selling it, I have a couple nice Novas for my toys. Selling it will give me funds to find another car to paint... most likely an IROC this time and TPI for sure! 5 speed car would be awesome
