F-Body Beach Week 2009

For those that didn't know and live on the East Coast, for the past four years there has been a summer event at Myrtle Beach for F-Bodies...F-Body Beach Week. In the past couple of years it has been scaled back to three days, but it is still a good time and there are a good deal of awesome cars to be seen. I've been the past two and am looking forward to going again this year.

Below I've listed what is tenatively planned for now. The scedule is still being worked out so some things could change on Thursday and Friday. The Show will remain on Saturday as it always has. It's the chill day where folks just relax after doing the other events.

Thursday July 16th 2009
Sonic Meet & Greet
Blvd. Cruise

Friday July 17th 2009
CSS Dyno Day
Track Event(s)
Blvd. Cruise

Saturday July 18th 2009
Car Show Planet Hollywood
Dinner(??? location)

Hope to see some more Third Gens out there this year.

Yup, I started it back in 2005. We're mostly comprised of military members, but we do have some folks that aren't in the military. With all of our military schedules and home/gone all the time it's difficult at times to get a good sized group together. We're slowly growing...

It'll be good to see another club in attendance this year. There's also talk of some folks from up in Northern VA coming down as well. It'd be sweet if we could get a huge turn out. Two years ago there were about 60 cars parked at the show throughout the day and more coming and going. Last year because of the rain, I think that kept a lot of folks away.

Re: F-Body Beach Week 2009

Anyone heard anything else about this? It looks like the topics have stalled on the SCF&YBody boards. We're at a month out and I don't think anything has been set in stone yet by the folks putting this on. Any SC folks here that can shed light on what's going on for Beach Week?

Re: F-Body Beach Week 2009

As of right now, I'm being told there is not going to be any F-Body events beingheld this year. My wife and I are still going down because we've got reservation and paid half up front for our room. It sucks there is nothing going to be happening this year. Hopefully enough people will gripe and someone will get off there butts and dow something for next year. This has the potential to be big, but without participation and events for folks to paricipate in it won't be squat.

Re: F-Body Beach Week 2009

Yeah...it happened. Hawk's came in and saved the day for the SCFYB folks. Eventhough I was in Myrtle Beach my wife and I didn't stop by because I was hot that I'm told it's not happening and then to find out it did and my car was at home. Both uncool and great they were able to pull it together. If the plannig process had been taken seriously from the beginning and events planned it could have been much bigger. Plus the weather cooperated this year which was a huge plus. Hopefully they'll figure it out for next year.

Its to bad the show was organized so late. Would have liked to see more 3rd gens in the lot.

The weekend turned out ok concedering the short time the new group had to put everything together. Anyway had a blast and now that they have a year to plan it should be very well set up next year. Dont think we should give up on beach weakend yet.
