question for Marylanders w/historic tags

My insurance renewal is coming up. I'm still baffled by the fact that insurance for my camaro is $181 for 6 months, and it's tagged as historic. My cutlass ciera, which is a regular registration, is merely $60 more. This doesn't make sense to me, seeing as how the camaro cannot be legally driven everyday.

Is there a special "historic insurance" that my company should be providing me? I have State farm mutual. They say that the state minimum coverage for regular registration is what historic cars get too.

Look into a specialized classic car insurance company like JC Taylor. I think my insurance is very reasonable for my GTA. The rate is based on how much you claim the car is worth.

I just put my Camaro back on the road in February, and went with Grundy Worldwide. You can do all the paperwork online; if they accept you then be prepared to send them pictures of your ride. Vaued my ride at $5K, and the cost is $100/year. There are several threads in the "History" section that list a few other options, I think this is probably the best of the bunch:

Just insured my car with Grundy today! $100 a year for FULL COVERAGE is awesome! There are a bunch of stipulations with it, but nothing that is unreasonable.

The first one that comes to mind is the disclaimer saying that the auto will not be used for racing purposes.
