I went with the AJE Racing k member it was about 500 bucks with the spring perches. it bolted right up no problems. I want to weigh the stock one to see the diference.

knyght...i'd call up AJE or PK and ask them to send you pictures of a 98+ k-member and a 82-92 k-member from the same vantage point....should give you a pretty good idea
looks very nice, did you go with tubular a-arms too? i guess i'm also required to ask if you went with a stock front suspension or coil-over?

heh, too typical...$50 worth of parts, $450 worth of engineering to figure out how to put'em together
It's nice though, no doubt...why'd you pick AJE over PK? Your gonna let us know how it performs when you get the engine in, right?

PA really sucks if you use your stock stuff.. ("A" arms and steering linkage) everything rubs ....long story

i like the looks of the PA and AJE better, that looks almost as heavy as stock. Despite appearances, due to materials and engineering, the PA and AJE units are very strong.

I don’t think it weighs all that much more. Keep in mind that the K-member connects the front end up quite a bit, it holds the engine (deals with torque), supports some of the tranny, suspension, and brakes. Personally I would rather spend an extra 5lbs (if that) to have something bullet proof. That is one piece of the car that has no room for failure, especially at speed.
Just my two cents.

your $.02 are just as valuable as mine, it comes down to personal preference just like anything else, you sound like you drive your car daily, whereas my car spends more time in the staging lanes and sitting on a trailer (not saying it's not streetable, i've driven it daily before with no problems). To me, personally, it's all about weight.

alot more then 5lbs between the two. the aje and pa as well as some of the others similar in design like y2k and the rest all work very well and are fine on the street. if your that worried you could go with a heavier mild steel version but the chromoly which is alot lighter works very good.
can't judge something based on looks...now if you or someone you know has broken one that's a different story.

i saved roughly 25lbs with my CM version....honestly for a street car i wouldn't buy one to pick up any real "gains" as one would put it. i needed it for header room which is why i have one in the first place, otherwise i probably would have left it alone. it's true that every pound helps but only in real race cars will you notice such a gain. 100lbs for a .10 off is it really worth it?
