Were you the guy with the white 85? I asked about the color of your seats vs your interior color. I guess I never put 2 and 2 together to ask if you were from this site. Anyway, your car looks pretty sweet! I really like what you did in your engine bay. I've got a few pictures to use as reference for mine if you don't mind

I was actually pretty disappointed with the limited number of thirdgens showing. There were more in the parking lot than showing. Even if mine's not 100% complete by next year, I'll show it for fun

Thanks man. Here's a pic of the award, pretty cool I thought! The guys from Tremec were really great!! They were very nice people and treated me very well.

Hey Panther...yep, that was me. I remember you. Thanks for the kind words. I was too disappointed in the number of third gens, I was hoping there would have at least been 20 or so...I was also disappointed with the judging.....what a joke....but I guess that's the politics of Super Chevy.

Thanks MonteMan...glad you decided to keep the car

sorry i couldn't make it but i had to make a decision to meet everyone in the upcoming week in ann arbor. nice trophy.

what didn't you like about the judging.... you have to remember everywhere you go that humans are judging things are never going to be completely equal or level. how did they judge though? always been curious to their system as i have yet to make it to one.

Very true Jeff! Basically their judging consisted of one guy walking around with a fist full of registration cards spending a grand total of about 30 seconds looking at each car. Maybe it wasn't that way for all the cars in the show, but it was for just about all the cars in my row. They said their would be multiple judges but I only saw the same guy look at my car twice....each for about 30 seconds. Granted, I did spend some time up at the strip (about an hours worth) watching the racing so I could have missed any other judging that took place. Also, they moved me into a different class...which is fine, but I wish they would have told me. I beleive I was correct in placing my car in the modified class just for the T56 (ie, never available on a third gen from the factory) per their rules but they moved me anyhow. All in all.....for a $45 entry fee I expected more.....they never even looked under the cars!! It was a learning experience though and I did come away with a couple awards so all is not lost, however, I probably won't be doing Super Chevy again. I was and still am, more stoked about my Tremec trophy than the tin plate Super Chevy gave out

Here's a couple of other things I found weird......a 68 freshly restored car won the 67-69 street class...cool right.....well, they gave out another award for Best Camaro of show and the guy that won it placed second to the other guy who won his class?!
Also the car that won best overall 82-92 street camaro was about 10 years off in style. He had GTS blackouts front and rear, colored wire loom, two big supertraps hanging out the back with a bone stock interior. Oh, and he had rusty stock exhaust manifolds on the car. It was, however very clean and very well prepped for the show. The owner was also extremely nice.

That's my take on it, maybe you will have better luck in Indy Jeff

wow i sure hope so. .

you must remember the real point to superchevy is to meet people, show off your car and the most important thing is media coverage. your sponsored award is proof of that. it's where you build the blocks for the future if you plan to really get competative.

as far as the judging and the rest. trophy is a trophy, you should have learned that last year when we had so many ties for superfest. you can't go off of an award for anything.... hense my sig never lists them. i enjoy shows to meet people and share experiences with others and that's it. i pay the little extra for judging class because it is something to do during the show and it leaves you with something to remember, however you just can't let it be your deciding factor. something as simple as a missing screw or in my case last year getting caught in the rain on the way to the show rather then driving it over in the trailer can be enough to separate you. the year before i lost points because i had z06 wheels and the judging class were from a corvette club who considered it a sin to do such to a camaro...

you just can't go off of it. all of which are great reasons not to get to worried and take things too seriously. as far as the car you mentioned in street class that's a very tough class as they leave you with so little modifications that move you into modified. street class is really for the one who has a daily driven car that has added a very few little items to make it slightly different. they really need to break up the classes better but there just aren't enough cars at the events. o'well...

did you take any pictures?

I agree with you completely about showing cars...it's not about the awards for me...I really do enjoy meeting the people and seeing other people's handywork...also to get ideas. I just got bent out of shape at this show because of the results......it just didn't make sense to me. I'm over it now
On a side note, I did meet a really cool guy from your neck of the woods...maybe you have seen his car? He has a black 1999 SS with chrome ZR-1 wheels. He and his father had the LS-1 done up to the 427...this car was immaculate. The car dynoed at 500 RWHP! Plus he's got a direct port 150 shot that he's never used. The car has a total of 3900 miles on the odometer!! I think I talked him into coming to Superfest...we'll see.

I did take pictures of most of the thirdgen cars at the show, however I don't have a way of hosting them.
