Death of my 'bird
Was debating on whether to sell or store my bird, as I'm moving and can't bring it to Indiana with me for at least a year. My parents graciously offered to let me keep it in their garage. Things did not go well...
It had been sitting in their driveway for a few weeks while the garage got cleared out, and we tried to push it in there today, as it decided not to start. Well it started out bad when the steering column got wobbly and I was fighting to get it to work right (something got really loose). Bad went to worse when I finally started to turn them. As they turned and I pushed it up the driveway and the car seemed to be sorta twisting.
Then I heard a pop... a bad pop...
Turns out the frame was a bit more rusted than I thought. Structural failure. The old girl is dead. I stripped it and the scrapper is coming to get it tomorrow. I stripped everything good off of it. I might not be around much till I get another 3rd gen. Not sure if I'm gonna get another 'bird or an IROC this next time, but gotta move somewhere with a real driveway first. Till then, good luck guys!
RIP old girl. Another 3rd gen meets the crusher. Rust 1, me 0.

Sorry to hear about that, rust is a filthy b*stard. My bird is pretty bad too, luckily not in the frames. Hope you find another good car.

Re: Death of my 'bird
Thanks. I thought I'd stopped the rust on this car, but apparently I was wrong. Next 3rd gen won't be a Midwest native, I can say that much.
I pulled this car apart, and while that makes it really easy to get another 'bird with the parts I have, my true love is the 3rd gen IROCS, so I guess we'll see what happens, once I get some money/space for another.
