NYC anyone?
Anyone on the boards in the city area? Know of any clubs?
I haven't found any here and the Island guys don't play too nice with some of us city dweelers.
I was thinking of starting one, but wanted to get an idea of how many serious owners are in the city. I see quite a few around, but don't know if the owners are serious about f-bodies or just buy them to have a "cool car".

I usually hit Flowerfield (Oct 26) and Belmont Racetrack (Nov 1 & 2) which is run by Long Island Cars.
I didn't mean to imply anything really bad about the LIers, except they're exclusive in their car clubs - Queens isn't part of LI to them.
Some local events (to me, in Queens anyway) are: Greenpoint Avenue - Solomax gas station, Saturdays 6-9pm; Metropolitan Avenue about 3 blocks east of Woodhaven Tuesday 6-9pm in the McDonals lot and McDonalds in Maspeth Thursday nights (LIE Maurice Ave exit). Because of work I'm only at the Metropolitan Ave one regularly.
In Brooklyn I know there's one somewhere on 86th Street, but I forget exactly where.

This may be a little premature, but its easier to get the word out than to email people to reply to the thread in private.
http://www.nyc-fbody.org/
I'm trying to get this organization started so there's not much yet. I'm setting up the online resources now, and plan to have meetings starting in the spring.
I've looked around and have seen nothing else, and the NYC lists at f-body.org seem dead.
Hopefully I can get something started and give all us NYC owners something to look forward to.
BTW, they probably they go dormant for the winter, but there are a few gatherings of muscle on SI or near the bridge in Brooklyn.
From Special Interest:
October 31, Brooklyn. Car Show, Every Friday Night, K-Mart Parking Lot, Bay Parkway And Shore Parkway
November 3, Staten Island. RCMC Classic Car Cruise Night, Every Monday, Clarke Avenue Plaza, Corner Of Clarke/Amboy, 6PM Till Whenever, All Makes And Models Welcome, Free Entry, Sponsored By Rochmond County Mustang And Ford Club

That sounds cool. I'm on vacation this week so if anyone wants to meet...
I don't know what kind of shows are still active in the area, especially now that the weather's gone cold.

Just wanted to let you all know, I've set up a temporary forum at
http://fbody.goumba.net/forums/
The main site will still be
http://www.nyc-fbody.org
I will relocate the forums there by mid January when I fix everything else. Being temporary, when you register for the forums just fill out the bare minimum that it will let you.

Storms of War, that's not what I meant. I talked to a few Island car club members at shows and got the basic feeling they only wanted Nassau and Suffolk owners. It just seemed the clubs were a little exclusive and so I want to get something going for F-Body owners in NYC.

another from si
i have a firebird formula 350 and live in staten island. A meeting of a few people who actually know what kind of cars there driving would be nice. im sick of talking to people driving thirdgens who might as wel be driving civics, there seems to be alot of that in nyc, so itd be relieving to meet people who car about there rides.

Well, how about some ideas for meeting places and times? We don't need a website to get those going. You can either reply here, or email me your suggestions.

hmmm... I see a lot of "Let's get it going", but no one going further than that. Meeting times and places? Anyone? I'm looking to start in April.
I wrote a quick message board type thing at nyc-fbody.org, but no idea if it really works besides myself posting. So if you can't post there, just submit your suggestion here.

well i'll tell ya this: i set up the site, it may not be much right now, but its apparent over there that no one's interested. i haven't gotten any idea for where and when to meet, etc.

hey Goumba, dont say that, alot of people talk out of the wrong end of their body but there are plenty people being genuine but are just not sure where a central meeting point could be, im in bensonhurst brooklyn, 5 minutes away from that k-mart car meetins, (never attended though). If you would like i can help you just let me know what you want me to do, my 1991 firebird 3.1 v6 t-tops, will be on the road around the nd of april, just waiting on tax check to get it insured, its not in show condition but will be, but i dont think thats the point of the meetings now is it? more about meeting other f-body enthusiasts and trading stories and helping each other, i currently work at a bodyshop in bay ridge till 5 oclock mon-fri, i am pretty good at web design and dont have too many meeting location ideas but ustlet me know how i could help you to get this rolling. Oh, there is a beach over in SI with a parking lot, not sure about if the lot closes at night or what but its the off the first exit after the toll of the verazzano, lilly pond, thats all i could think of right now but something i could look into if youd like. Please contact me through here or email me at brooklynyte@hotmail.com until then, PEACE!!
