Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

Well last week was a success. More people would have been cooler, but 2 guys showed up at my house last weekend. I was very exited to meat other camaro guys....I really hope we can get more next week.

Anyone know the next step into becoming an official club. If we do, do this. I would not be totally ready to spearhead the project till spring when my car is done.

Anyone else interested....?

We are four people stong so far, but there are at leat two others that wanna meat up.

6 guys aint a bad start.

Right on. Yeah most of our cars are not gonna really be done will spring. So no worries. I figure in the next couple weeks we can meet up again at some point. I will add you to my buddy list of people that wanna be in on the club idea. Should be big and nice by the time spring comes around.

Very nice. Looks like thats what most of us are all doing this winter. I am dropping in a crazy 383. Linx is dropping in an L98, and Vadim is sticking with his bored 305, but getting new heads/intake and cam. Some of the other guys might be doing some motor stuff but have not told me.

We should be a very fast club, haha.

i blew a head gasket last week so i finished putting on a new one today, not really going to go crazy with the motor, but i am going with heads cam and intake, and the fuel system has to be changed other than that its going to stay the same, but u know how that goes once you start doing stuff its like well, well im here i mine as well do this and this and then you end up doing a whole motor.

I hear ya. I wanted to get rid of some rust and make my car a "bit" faster.

-Now it is a 6 point, fuel celled, stroked 500 hp, T-56ed, and running 335 tires with a full custom interior.

Things def get away from you. haha.

i know that feeling i was going to do the interior but i took everything out for weight, as you can tell i don't drive it on the street much maybe 100 miles a week i usually bring it to the track on saterdays but because of a wiring issue i didn'y race it at all this year, but next year i hoping to drive it on the street more.

Very nice. Next year we will all be hitting up the track. I have been but never ran. Many of the other guys in the club have never been at all. It will be great. It will be great to be there with our own club kinda thing and help eachother out.

ya its a good time i go all the time with or with out my car. went to rode island last night to pick up my buddies car so we can run it tonight. car should go 10.6's with a conservative tune . don't want to break it on the first run out. went last weekend if you didn't have a 9 second car u were slow lot of fast cars there. my buddy had his buick regal there but he couldn't hook for nothing. he put over 1200 to the wheels on the dyno. car should go mid 7's by the time he gets the bugs worked out.

Damn those are scary #s. hehe. I am not one for beating my car on the track but I do love to watch other guys do it. The car I am building now is just not set up for it. Mainly the interior. The bars are welded by me and would never pass certification. Also my 5 points are mounted wrong. No biggie. I can change them, but I just don't feel like it, hehe. I think I will be able to get one run maybe and then get kicked out. haha. Oh well. Can't wait to be there with a bunch of third gens.

Damn. Sounds like you have a lot of experience with "track" events. That is awsome. I don't know anyone like that. You would be quite the asset to the "club" I am trying to get goin'. I figure fall, I try and find as many people that are interested as possible. Maybe meet up and shoot the **** for a bit, but to figure out who is seriouse about the club and by spring have a good set of local guys that can meet up and maybe even host our own gatherings at a local pizza place or what not.

I acctually live in Needham. Are you in the city itslef putt-putt?

I go to Northeastern.

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

Who still is interested in this thread!!!!???? I am finally gonna start putting this club thing in motion, now that I have a car I can acctually drive to shows.

I brought my car to its first small showing, went great. Caused a lot of comotion and sparked a lot of questions. It was a great time.

I have some good plans and local support for this club idea. post here if you are local to boston, and have a thirdgen.

I'm interested. I'm in Hyde Park. I have an 89 RS. Put a 350 in and am getting ready to put sportlines, konis, Global West rear suspension and 3:73's in within the next week or two. When do you plan on meeting? My buddy has an 01 SS with 12,000 miles. I'm sure he'd come hang out too.

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

NICE!!!!!!

I am very exited about all the posts I am seeing here. This is great. I have some ideas about what you can do. Let me propose it to you guys and you can tell me what you think.

Here it is:

Well I live in Needham MA, and in Needham, I live right next to (like within 200 yards) of exit 18 off 95. So I propose we meet up at my house, cuz it is really easy to get to. Then we can finally put a face to all these online IDs. And from there, we can cruise to a 50s dinner that is 15 miles from my house, its a place called Riley's Roast beef. It is like 10 minutes past the Natick mall. Great place, a lot of muscle cars go there Fri, and Sat. Then after we do that, maybe we can find a place to meet up every Saturday, maybe Riley's if you guys like it. Then if there is ever a Saturday that people need help, like a compressor, some random tool, like a welder or something, we can meet at my place and hep eachother out, then go to Riley's or just the person who needs help can come, that kinda thing. I would be happy to help out fellow thirdgenners.

I think a car club should be more than just guys you drive around with. It would be great to not just share info on parts and stuff, but to also help out. I have built my car from the ground up, so I know these things inside and out, cuz of that, I have a lot of tools and stuff that I almost never use that I am sure some of you guys might need at some point.

Well with that said, Lemme know what you all think. I always keep my Saturdays free of anything to do so that I can work and play with the car. If the weather is nice, I think next week would be a great first meeting.

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

I also have a lot of stuff left over from building my car, and it would be great to use the club as a first stop when trying to sell stuff.

One last thing. Maybe we can start making a list to of people intersted, with a link to their CD sites, so we can see what they have.

I will start.

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

Allright, So I guess it is official. This Saturday I am trying to get as many thirdgens over my house as possible. At first it started out a day, that I was gonna clean and work on my car, and then redfirebirdman8 wanted me to help him with his battery tray. So now I am just using the day to have as many thirdgens as possible come over so that we can all get faces to our rides. See what everyone else has and so on. Maybe exchange ideas about starting the club, and then whomever wants, can drive down to Riley's with me around 4 or 5. Lemme know what you think.

Also if you have any friends with thirdgens that are up for a club or even just the the meeting at my house to see some other cars, post here. I wanna get a list going so I know who to expect.

Hope we get a good amount of cars. Hope to hear from a lot of you!

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

Nice, well that makes 3 people so far. Well 4 including me. I am not too far from that mall. I hoestly haven't been there is a long time so I don't remember exactly, but if I have been there, it can't be far. For now, if you (GTAfanatic) or anyone else wants to know how far it is to my house, just use google maps and check out where exit 18 is off 95. My house is right by there. Once I get a list of all the people wanting to come, then I will PM all you guys my Cell # and my house address. If you cant look up exit 18, just look up anyplace in Needham, MA 02492. The town is like 3 miles wide, so when mapquest looks it up, it will give a location in the center, which is close to my house.

As for weather, it couldn't be nicer. Check it out. http://www.weather.com/weather/weeke...nav_undeclared

If it was going to rain, I would never have you guys over, I too don't like to drive my car in the rain, plus we wouldn't get to really see what peopel have if it was wet either. Looks like it is going to be 60* and sunny!

Well I hope we get more people, but so far so good. ttyl all.

Lets see, Well I am going to be like an hour away drinkin the night b4, so not really early. I can be home around 11. Anytime after that I guess. I want to drive to Riley's around 3 or so. Maybe 4 at the latest. I usually go around 4, I want to try to get there earlier this time though. So If you guys wanna try and come over around 1. That would work for me.

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

Yeah, sorry I wasn't able to make it.
Ended up having a buddy come over to give me a hand with the Firebird, and I'm 99.9% sure the car will be at least running by tomorrow. If not, at least I've got a MUCH better idea of what is keeping it from running.

On a side note, I'm psyched to say that the Malibu might be getting a 355 soone than I expected! woo-hoo!!!!

haha yeah, chances are if the Firebird is on the road next time i get a chance to meet up with you guys, she'll be driving. haha

Im not sure exactly what the problem is, but a buddy of mine who had similar problems with his TPI Camaro suggested the gas could be bad, or that the oil pressure sensor down by the oil filter is disconnected, which would shut the fuel pump off if I tried to start the car. I'm gonna replace the fuel filter today as well, maybe that might be it.....

i doubt its gonna be that dude. you had fuel pressure at the rail. which means the pump IS turning on. and you are gonna love this. IM having the same problem. but i dont have anyone here with me to start checking stuff. i dont think i have any spark and ive got fuel pouring out of the back of my carb so it needs ot get rebuilt AGAIN. god dammit...... but she trys to start and thats more then i expected after how i ripped that column out of the car friday.

What's up guys. Sounds like you had a fun time. I tried to make it but my car wasn't ready. Hopefully within the next few weeks it will be back up and running. Did you go to Rileys?I got there late and most of the cars were gone.
