Re: FINALLY, NE PHILLY MEET
no disrespect intended, but "BE A_PART OF A MOVEMENT"? you're trying to make it sound like this is some new and revolutionary idea, but you're re-inventing the wheel here.
there were thirdgen clubs based in the philly area 9 - 10 years ago. in 1999, there was a well-attended gathering in fort washington, pa that was put together by people here at thirdgen.org when there was still a "non tech" oriented board.
in spring 2000, TGO went all tech only, but a bunch of my friends and i took the "owners list" from here and emailed a bunch of thirdgen owners all throughout pa, nj, ny, and beyond, and put together the first lehigh valley gathering in summer 2000. a big group of people became friends from the fort washington and lehigh valley gatherings and formed nethirdgen.org, which is still going strong with a lot of the original people. for several years, we frequented atco raceway, and occasionally maple grove and e-town as well. we also got together at random for "meets" at the very same jim's steaks you're planning to meet at, as well as at tony luke's. in fact some of those people got together at tony luke's within the last few weeks.
from there, a group of us based in the lehigh valley, pa spun off of nethirdgen, and also had a side thing going on another site that is now techcessive.com (was poorformance.net originally). we became good friends and hung out every single week for years.
then there was another group of people out of philly and new jersey that i met a few years later who had a lot of f-bodies as well, but weren't just tied to that alone. they were originally pa street-racing, which got shortened to PSR, and that group of people kind of spread out over to godragracing.com (now gonedragracing.com) and autorush.com
some of these people have come to be my best friends over the years, and a lot of them are still around and still have their cars, but as with all these car clubs, people come and go, and people's lives eventually take priority and interest fizzles out.
and inevitably some other club will come together and do it all again..
the latest iteration of all this is epfba, which is in many respects philly based as well - a lot of the founding members are close to the philly area, and the strongest attendance is always in the philly area meets. there's a good thing going there and i don't see why you're trying to re-create something that already exists, and inevitably you'll just wind up hurting both groups if you try to compete. there's no reason you can't try to have a small sub-group of people do weekly meets from there. there's already a lehigh valley sub-group in epfba who has been experimenting with side meets too. what would it hurt to have your meet idea cross posted on epfba as well and keep it as part of a well-established club?
anyway, just putting in my 2 cents.

Re: FINALLY, NE PHILLY MEET
been there tried that, and people almost had a heart attack. i left the idea up no respnses. as far as 'the movement', its called advertising. im doing for the local owners, if other want to come they are welcome. not everyone wants to drive to the lehigh valley, or west bumba Pa. some people like to keep it local sometimes. if we plan something as a group thats one thing, but this is for PHILLY. and to jump on here and throw site names around is blatently disrespectful. but thats your mister moderator.
but like i said, its for the NE philly 3rd gen owners, but everyone is welcomed. no competition with any group, you come or you dont. and dont you have a fourth anyway?

Re: FINALLY, NE PHILLY MEET
blatantly disrespectful
i'm not name dropping for the hell of it, i'm name dropping to let you know how many times this very same idea you're trying pitch has been tried....and inevitably failed. if you want to have a handful of philly people getting together, exclusive to philly alone, that's all well and good. but you'd be a lot smarter to attempt to organize it through an existing club and not some random side thing.
and you can't expect to just arbitrarily slap one or two posts up on a message board and expect dozens of people to show up. organization is key, listening to other peoples' opinions and reacting and responding politely and professionally is critical. Further, you are limiting the whole idea by being elitist or exclusive to only one relatively small region. If there isn't immediate overwhelming interest, you may want to revisit your approach..
I would also add, when you're trying to organize a club, or even a single meet, things like grammar, capitalization, spelling, and attention to detail speak volumes. unless of course you're looking to further limit your interest demographic to uneducated teenagers?
a little tip, and...
as well
finally, i do not, and have never owned a 4th gen. i've had thirdgens for a few days over 14 years now, including 9 years next month with my 87 iroc, which it says directly below "TheWraith" to the left on every single one of my posts. that whole attention to detail thing....

Re: FINALLY, NE PHILLY MEET
I have to agree with alex on this one.He is not being disrespectful at all and neither am I with this post.He is just trying to make a point.I know for a fact from reading this board and past posts that throughout the years people have tried to get a philly or pa fbody club going and no one really stepped up to the plate. He should know as he has been on here since 1999.Ive only been on here since 2004 and Ive seen it.The most recent attempt finally materialized and turned into the epfba which as stated before does have quite a large philly/local suburbs base membership.Ive seen quite a few 3rd gens in ne philly and I do my best to pass the word on about epfba but not everyone is into the car scene.Alot of people just drive them and only consider them a car in general.I think the reason that you didnt get a good response on epfba was the way it was posted. It seemed like you wanted to use epfba to recruit members for another group of just local ne philly 3rd gen owners and exclude all other generation f body cars.Thats fine and dandy but when you post that on an already established board for f bodies in general there are people who are going to take offense.Maybe if you just posted it as say "Philly fbody meet up or get together" it might have gone over a little better.I myself have been into 3rd gens for at least 20 years now ever since I got my first Iroc Z way back in 1988.There is nothing wrong with having local get togethers. We have a regular crew from epfba who get together each month and attend the Northeast muscle car club of philly monthly cruise nights in bristol and not everyone of them lives in that area.Kat comes up from chester and flippermtc comes up from king of prussia. We hang out and have a good time. With that being said I personally have nothing against local get togethers.I enjoy meeting fellow 3rd gen owners and thanks to epfba, njfboa and 3rdgen.org I have met quite a few.I`m gonna try my best to be there sunday just to see how many people actually show up.

Re: FINALLY, NE PHILLY MEET
if you werent tryin to be disrespectful, then i apologize for taking it the wrong way. but to name drop is a bit extra. you werent speaking generally. what if you were getting maried and i came to your engagement party and introduced your fiance to well established and handsome men. on top of that, you make minimum wage you would be upset, right? now think of the people that were going to to read al the names you threw around and said i'll try these instead. that defeats the pupose of what i am doing. and big numbers arent important to me, its a LOCAL meeting. i dont expect tons of people, just nieghborhood people. but as i said 1st,2nd, 4th are welcomed! i have a third so thats what interest me for now. and i would appriciate anyone that shows up, be it 20 cars or 2. I KNOW YOU have thirds i was being sarcastic!
~roc youre right about how i came off in epfba, and i apologized then. but it felt like there was a sour taste left behind that situation. so i left well enough alone.
as far as the been done before, i know that Wraith. thats why i tried to make it sound like a grand ol' time. these cars have been around along time, but you never know when your number hits. and who cares about grammer? this is about cars! you dont have to have a phd to love and know these cars.
im sure cletus the mechanic in alabama, probably wont win a spelling bee, but could build a motor in heartbeat! think he cares bout propper grammer?
HOPE 2 CEE U THEIR!

Re: FINALLY, NE PHILLY MEET
Had to attend a final farewell kind of event for my best friend. He was leaving the next day for Advanced Individual Training, military stuff, y'know. The MOS training that thing.
I should be able to make the next one, with enough planning and foresight.
As far as Philly clubs go, probably will always be groups for em, but I see this as more of a meet with your neighbors that you just don't normally have the time to walk up to and say hi.
->IF YOUR IN THE PHILLY AREA, THIS IS A CHANCE TO MEET THE OWNERS OF THOSE FBODIES YOU OFTEN SEE IN YOUR NEIHBORHOOD, BUT NEVER MET!
That's what this sounds like to me. I know of 1 person I've met in the NE area. He was working on his engine swap on the street, much respect for such a die hard!, and that's out of the 10 or so I can see parked pretty regularly.
