There are a lot more of us than you might think... It's just that I don't think most of us are on here. A couple guys sold theirs due to WNY's crappy economy, but most of us are hanging in there. Also try WNYFbody.com.

Re: Rochester

I'm out in Williamson by Spencers Speedway. They use to have a Rochester F-Body club, but I think some politics within the group killed the club. It may be me, but it seems like there is a lot of Ford love out this way, nice to see that there is potentials for seeing some nice F-Bodies.

There were a few cruise in places around that were good, but it's been a while.

Re: Rochester

Seriously, though. There are a TON of ThirdGens around here, but I don't know of how many are on here or WNYFbody... I can think of at least five in my small town alone, and four more elsewhere. There are a couple of nice Formulas that I know of, and I've even seen a few women driving their cars around. Would be nice to have a couple shows or something...

Perhaps maybe some of the Rochester people could get together and get a non-Buffalo/non-Syracuse club going again?

Anyone here know someone in the area that does tuning? Or can at least point me in the right direction? I'm looking for some guidance on tuning the engine for the hybrid setup and other things.

That is a clean thirdgen. I like those style wheels, they hide all the uglies underneath...You can't beat the look of the weld racing rims tho they are my next investment along with some nice rubber.

Maverick, I've heard good things about Kennedy dyno shop up in Niagara Falls, USA. Give them a call and see if they can help.
http://www.kennedysdynotune.com/

I'm closer to Buffalo and think there is a Camaro club around here. Can't find there website but remember it looked pretty lame. Would be cool to start up a WNY thrid gen club. Maybe we start out by meeting up at some local shows.

Re: Rochester

I second Kennedy's. I'm taking my car out there once it's in one piece again. I stopped out to his shop, it's pretty nice. He burned me a chip just to get the thing started, I'm looking forward to see what he can do. I've heard nothing but good stuff about him. Unfortunately here in the Rochester area, the tuners only deal with the OBDII computers, maybe even some of the aftermarket stuff, but I haven't run into one that will touch the old OBDI systems.

LMK if you need a hand... Working 4 hours a day leaves a lot of the day left to be quite bored. I also have an 87 GM service manual if you need anything.

Our animals go to the vet out there, so I know where York is.

Where's Rick's? Not that my car is in any shape to go, but I'm sure others would like to know.

BTW, there was a guy following me through Batavia yesterday in an 82-85 Camaro with a hood scoop, black in color. Wondering if he is on here? I was driving the black Intrepid.

The car I am talking about is completely black... Almost like black primer (flat), and seems to have either a slight misfire or an exhaust leak at one of the manifolds/headers. I think it was a V8, but I couldn't swear to it, having the three notches in the nose below the Camaro emblem.

I know there used to be the Camaro Club of Western NY. I used to be in that club back in the late 80s/early 90s. I see its up and running again on the American Camaro Association website as a local chapter and Mike Riley is the club President. There were a few nice third gens in the club back then, but it was mostly 1st and second gens. I miss being home in NY but in 6 years I'll be back there.

I've been to the Log Cabin in Macedon a few times. Cool place. My friend I hung out with there was friends with Lou Grahmm of Foreigner and he showed up with his 67 442 and we all walked around there and looked at all the cars. It was a fun evening.

Re: Rochester

Anyone here know of a decent u-pull it junkyard in the area that's not a wait-at-the-counter-and-hope-the-guy-even-has-a-guess-as-to-what's-in-the-computer joint? Especially one with a decent Firebird in it that hasn't been hit in the rear? I think my new summer project is going to be replacing my passenger's side rear quarter panel that's pretty close to FALLING OFF (no, I'm not kidding... PO decided to mess up just about everything he touched and the cracks in the quarter have reached the wheel well)... I can probably get some help with the replacement, but I'm looking for a panel at a decent price, and I don't think the guy running my usual yard is going to give me one, or even the panel from the 91, for that matter...

I've pulled a lot of parts out of that yard.

Back in the good old days you could get some serious deals. Sometimes they'd have 1/2 price engine day... any engine, $50. My buddy watched 400 small blocks and any number of big blocks go out the door for $50.

I pulled a T5 and a 700R4 out of there for $50 each. Like new T-tops for a few bucks each, etc.

Ahh, the memories.

One thing though... it's exit 40. Exit 34 dumps you east of syracuse. The Weedsport exit is #40. Once you get out of the toll booth, turn right and stay on that road until you see the pick & pull on your right.

Re: Rochester

You can spot a vehicle from NY state even out here in dry California. I was driving on I-5 last summer and I saw a Ford pickup coming up behind me and the back fenders were flapping in the breeze and you could see them flapping miles away. That thing is from NY guaranteed....sure enough NY plates. I was thinking that thing must have a good engine becasue the rest of the truck looks like its falling apart around the driver. Must be held together with bailing twine or coat hangers. LOL Sorry for getting off the Rochester subject but I just had to mention the NY rust thing. I sure miss living there and the salty roads. haha

Just get under there, center punch the bolt, and start drilling with one of those titanium coated high speed steel drill bits. Don't forget the oil. And you may need to rethread the hole using a 10mm x 1.5 or 1.75 insert (not sure which). You're lucky... I have a crap heat treated steel tap broken off in one of mine, and I'm not looking forward to ruining my drill bit drilling that sucker out.

Re: Rochester

I'm in macedon and dont even know where the log cabin is. Kinda sad, but we moved from gates just a couple years ago, still work in rochester, so if its not on 31 or 350 no way I'd find it.

If anybody sees a black with gold 85 trans with t tops and dents all down the passenger side, thats me. My money's going towards finishingthe 350 before I bother prettying up the exterior.

Nice to see some fellow upstaters. I'm hoping to get my car on the road this week if things go as planned. Mine is the blue one with white racing stripes normally seen going from geneva to newark (work) and newark to palmyra (visiting the fiancee.)

Anyone in the Rochester area interested in an 87 TA, hard top, flame red and silver, 5 speed, 305 TPI. 21,815 original miles, and I am the original owner. Car is in excellent condition. Showed it at Wegmans cruise night and Shriners on Bay Rd, Webster. Hope to be out some more before they end cruise nights in the area.

Re: Rochester

Thanks for the info about log cabin (read it a month and a half late). Thats a couple miles from my house, even use their neon sign to know when to turn onto my friends street, but never got close enough to know thats what that building was. Hopefully it's not too late in the year, and hopefully I can get my engine done and broken in by wednesday.

Re: Rochester

pretty cool to see so many from my area. im in williamson myself. regularly drive 104 between rochester and fulton. also go up and down 20, 88, and 350 to go to palmyra, macedon, and newark. dont go to lyons too often anymore. wife used to work there. ive seen a few of you guys before. havent seen many since the cold weather came. im forced to drive mine in the winter for now. i got a silver 88 with chrome wheels and a black windshield banner with a grey chevy bowtie on it.

ive been to log cabin a few times for lunch. only stayed for the car show once though.

Re: Rochester

Hey guys, bad news...I have since moved to southern tier of NY because of my job. I just got hired at the Horseheads middle school as the Technology teacher. I live in Lindley which is just outside of Corning (15 minutes south) and only about .6 miles from PA so now I can get high octane for about the same price as the regular in NY whoop whoop!

Re: Rochester

How about that snow? And considering how bad it was raining at 5am, could have been worse. Good thing I had the bird in the garage in time this year, unlike last year.

I never did make it to any of those log cabin nights. Seemed to rain almost every wednesday since I found out about it.

Ya I put the camaro away a month ago when the morning temps were getting cold enough so she didn't want to start. I had to connect my heater core lines inorder to drive it to storage.
