What's the difference between the Showfield and Standard of Excellence Judging?? Saw these options when looking at registration.

Unless you have a car going for the points judging (usually a concours perfect car), I would recommend you register for the show field as thats where almost all of the 3rd Gens will be. No matter what class you enter its going to the a great event.

Hoping I can make it, not sure how work will play out.

Would love to bring my 92 formula (firehawk clone/tribute) but it's not nice enough.

Standard of Excellence is a 200 point judged it is against a grading sheet not other car and is limited to number of entry's.

Hopefully youre able to find something. Myself and 6 other cars booked an air bnb about 5 months ago in preparation for this show. I know NYthirdgen booked a block of rooms some time ago as well as the event fills up quickly.

Re: Carlisle GM Nationals 40TH Anniversary Camaro and Firebird Celebration June 24th-

I spoke with the event organizer of the GM Nationals when I was at the Spring Swap meet 2 weeks ago. He said that as of April 21 (TWO whole months before the event) they already had 30% more showfield pre-registrations than they ever had turn out at the event. this is for ALL cars not just 3rd Gens, but from the people I personally know thats going for sure, there are going to be a LOT of them there. The T Building is stuffed with ONLY 3rd Gens! This one is going to be EPIC! Hope to see everyone there.

It is unlikely I will be able to get to this one, as my wife and I are due to have a baby mid-June, so I might have to miss this event. However, maybe I can make it to the Camaro nationals in Pennsylvania in mid-July instead though.
Enjoy guys. Take and post up a lot of photos. !

For anyone on the fence about going: this is absolutely shaping up to be EPIC! I'm getting calls from car owners coming from California, Texas, Florida and EVERYWHERE in between! A few cars are coming from Canada so you dont want to miss this one!
Stan Kennedy @Fireball****** has been posting videos about special giveaways from Camaro Central and Firebird Central and will be announcing more special giveaways this week. Be sure to check out his YouTube channel for the videos.

Re: Carlisle GM Nationals 40TH Anniversary Camaro and Firebird Celebration June 24th-

Still unsure if I can make it Saturday or not and I may not know the answer until late in the day on Friday...
...but in the slim chance that I can make it... can I arrive on the day of the show and register for the showfield, pick my class, and collect votes....or do I have to be pre-registered in order to participate in the showfield classes? I know some events are pre-reg only and some can be day-of-show registration, so that's why I am asking.

Have fun guys! Us guys down here in TX don't even know where PA is at, let alone Carlie. Is that the northern counties or something? ha ha,, I kid. These car shows sort of freak me out, not sure if I could rest if I brought my car to one. People and their kids get touchy feeling, purses end up banging on them. A recipe for a heart attack! Enjoy the show!

Made it to the show today. Had a great time meeting some fellow TGO members.
Can’t wait until the show tomorrow (which should be even bigger than today).
Here’s a picture of the thirdgen Firebird / Trans Ams.

This year's show is absolutely incredible. I got to building T before 9 this morning and didn't get out of the building until after 2! I've never seen thirdgens of this caliber before in such numbers. The event coordinators hit an absolute home run this year. I can't wait to go through the showfield tomorrow.

Re: Carlisle GM Nationals 40TH Anniversary Camaro and Firebird Celebration June 24th-

bummer, truly a tough moment to swallow, but I will not be able to come out for tomorrow's show. The car is 100% show ready and 100% ready to make the trip, but unfortunately a completely unforeseen complication with my wife's pregnancy is still unresolved, so there is no way I can go hangout 150+ miles from home and leave her home with an 8 day old infant. Just can't do it.

Looks like a good turnout from what I have seen on youtube and here on TGO. I'm looking forward to see what my competition would have been in the heavily-modified 3rd gen camaro class, so I will keep an eye out for pics from the event.

For those that attended and missed out on the shirts because they were sold out by noon on day 1... Or couldn't attend and would still like commemorative memorabilia... The shirt seller has established a link good until August 1st if you want to get in on round 2 and buy a shirt(s) or hooded sweatshirt(s). Not sure if it is within the rules to share the link here but it is readily available in the Thirdgen Camaro and Firebird Facebook Group if anyone is interested. Or just PM me. I am not affiliated with the seller nor will I make any profit from merchandise sales. I am just a guy that missed out initially like so many others thus I'm spreading the word.

Re: Carlisle GM Nationals 40TH Anniversary Camaro and Firebird Celebration June 24th-

Hello Everyone. Like everyone else who attended, I'm still recovering from the EPIC 2022 Carlisle GM Nationals a few weeks ago and am finally catching up with posting pix and getting everyone updated. THANKS TO EVERYONE who made this event such a HUGE SUCCESS!
In addition to assembling the Special Display in the T Building, I was the person responsible for the creation of the GM Nationals 3rd Gen Anniversary shirts with Green Mountain Monogram who runs the Carlisle Store. I do not work for Carlisle, I only was helping them for this event and did not get paid or made any money from it or the shirt sales. I only did it for the community and my love of 3rd Gens and am spreading the word about the re-run of the shirts because so many people have messaged me that they weren't able to buy one. The gates opened at 7 AM and the 3rd Gen shirts COMPLETELY SOLD OUT BEFORE NOON Friday so anyone who was only there Saturday did not get the chance to see them let alone buy them.
That said, I was able to get the shirt company to do a LIMITED RUN of the EXACT T-shirts in Charcoal and Black that were available at the 2022 event.
However, as an EXCLUSIVE to this re-run, they are offering the shirt in LIGHT GRAY which WAS NOT AVAILABLE AT THE EVENT! (I have mine on order already!)
Also I had them make the ULTRA LIMITED EDITION HOODIE which was NOT available to the public at the event! Originally the hoodies were ONLY AVAILABLE TO THE CAR OWNERS IN THE DISPLAY and ONLY 43 were printed!
So IF you want a shirt or hoodie you better order ASAP because they will ONLY DO THIS RUN ONCE! ORDERS MUST BE RECEIVED BY August 1! They will ship immediately after they print them the first week of August, or they can be picked up at the Corvettes at Carlisle August 26 & 27 (you must still pre order in order to pick them up)
I have the link posted on different 3rd Gen Facebook groups as well as my Facebook page: Cam Arrow.

2022 Carlisle GM Nationals 3rd Gen Anniversary Hoodie Charcoal

2022 Carlisle GM Nationals 3rd Gen Anniversary Hoodie Black

2022 Carlisle GM Nationals 3rd Gen Anniversary Shirt Black

Love the shirt. Was lucky enough to get one on Friday at the show. One question - why only one lonely Firebird on the shirt and FIVE camaros!?!?!!?

I'm glad you asked that question because I was also asked why there weren't more Firebirds, as well as Camaro RS, Berlienttas and lower trim examples of both F Bodies in the display. We got very few Firebirds apply for the display and I personally reached out to at least a dozen owners on Facebook and Instagram to invite them. I had a friend put a call out for some specific models on the Facebook Groups he is an Admin on.
Since I know more Camaro owners than Firebird, I searched out and messaged owners of Daytona Pace Cars, KITT replicas (and the real one from the series), Notchback GTAs, and hunted down leads on the 2 the Kammback Wagons. I was told by a few owners they would be attending and as much as they wanted to, they just couldn't get the cars there due to logistics or cost, which is totally understandable. Some never replied to my repeated messages at all. A few owners thought it was a scam and didnt believe I was actually inviting their car to the Display. One person actually blocked me the first time I messaged!
For Camaros I tried to get a good example of an 82 Pace Car and 84 Olympic Edition and by the time someone applied with a Pace Car (we received 3 applications) it was too late to add them to the lineup. I was SO close to getting Leonard to bring the Last Z28 so it could sit center stage with Phils Last Norwood IROC, but after several calls and discussions about the possibility, it was just too much for him to take the car cross country without owning his own trailer. Maybe in 2032 Leonard?
I totally agree with those who think there wasnt enough Firebirds or other trim levels and its not for lack of me trying.
This display was going to be much larger with a tent outside for special models but the tent supplier was unable to guarantee they could provide the tent early enough in the car selecting process. They had new tents on order but they were somewhere in a shipping container, so we had to cut off applications when we approved the 40 cars for the building. We literally were forced to turn down at least a dozen ultra low mile or pristine examples of cars that would have fit in perfectly, including another 1LE firebird with T-Tops, but we already had one approved. Where else would you see 2 of the 8 cars made next to each other but that's how it happened.
Anyway, getting to your question about the shirt.
When I originally pitched the idea of a 3rd Gen Display shirt to Carlisle (they RARELY do a secondary shirt, and the last one for GM was 2015 for the IROC reunion) the idea was to have every car in the display to get an equal chance to be on the shirt. It sounded like a good idea at first but the fact that not all owners were able to get me pix of good enough quality and resolution or the different angles that the graphic design team required was one of the reasons those 6 cars made it. Another was the shirts had to be designed early enough in the process with the cars that were 100% guaranteed they would show up no matter what. I think the design had to be finalized and approved by Carlisle in early Jan, so I had to submit pix of the cars that met that criteria by mid November because the holidays cut down design time. After they went over all the car pix I was able to submit them in time, it was decided to use the 3 most easily recognizable cars, but I was able to get them to do 6 because the cars justified a spot. Bruce's Firehawk is shown from the rear so you can see the spoiler, exhaust and roll cage because it was unrecognizable as a Firehawk from the front view being so small. They played with putting the white MSE Firebird on it but it was not recognizable as what car it actually was when the pic was scaled down. The 92 Jamaica Yellow Formula was literally a list minute entry because we had someone drop out the day we were setting them up, or that car would have made it on the shirt. Stan's red 1LE T-Top is an incredible car, but without anything to identify what it was, it just looked like an ordinary Firebird. The Last Norwood IROC was also a candidate but it looked like an ordinary IROC. Sounds harsh, but I dont know how else to put it. Hopefully the cars that are on the shirt now make total sense with this explanation, because a 3rd Gen person will easily know what cars they are looking at.
Everyone on the Carlisle team spent a LOT of time on this entire event and I think having 194 3rd Gens show up in the show field is a testament to everyone's hard work and dedication to putting on an awesome event that everyone in the community can be proud to have been a part of in whatever way you were. Every aspect of it was a MONUMENTAL task to execute and literally took FIVE YEARS TO PLAN AND ASSEMBLE! I thank EVERYONE who helped, attended, and spread the word here and on Facebook and Instagram because it showed Carlisle that the 3rd Gen Community is alive and well and ready to represent! I will be posting updates here and on my Facebook page and will announce what Carlisle has planned for next years GM Nationals soon.
Now hurry up and order your shirt and hoodie!

Mike - thanks for the thorough reply! i didn't realize how much work was involved to put all this together and i can't thank all the people involved enough.
i hope you didn't take my half joking question as a complaint. i had to ask being a Trans Am guy. i completely understand why the cars on the shirt were selected - they're all amazing. as stated, i love the shirt and was super excited to attend this years Nations. i had a blast. the last time i went was back in 2010 with a second gen camaro i had at the time.

No offense taken! I'm glad you asked so I had a reason to explain. I'm actually going to Carlisle tomorrow and will be discussing details about my participation with next years indoor display for the 4th Gen F Body Anniversary but the building will be shared with 40 years of Fiero and 125 years of Buick. I dont think people realize what a HUGE deal it was to have only 3rd Gens in the entire building this year as they always celebrate 3 body styles each year! In 2017 for the 50th Anniversary of the F Body, they shared the building with Nova and Chevelle if memory serves me. I'm working on keeping the 3rd Gen participation what it was this year and continue to grow so I'll be posting details as they are confirmed with Carlisle.
Make sure you get the word out to the Pontiac guys that I'm looking for some really special 4th Gens NOW for the 2023 T Building Display, so please tell them not to block me if I message them!
I'm also trying to get Carlisle to make a special shirt for that one so maybe you'll get your wish for more Firebirds on the shirt next year!

I may still have my 4thgen "ZL1" then, would it be worthy?
