Jenny Craig TGO

Since I started on the Jenny Craig weight loss plan, I've lost another 48 lbs.

After seeing some of the hot rods at Infineon, I decided to take the nose off Firebird and start removing the entire radiator support and tie the front of the frame together with some square tubing.

I enden up removing a total of 48 lbs off of the front end of my car. Thats not including any nuts & bolts that held all that together. The factory bumper weights 27 lbs by itself.

I weighed everything that came off with my No2 scale.

I'll post pics later..

Re: Jenny Craig TGO

Just a couple of loose ends left, like securing the nosecone support to the frame, the re-route wiring. I rounded up all the nuts & bolts that held everything together & weighed them & they ended up weighing 1.3lbs. Just about 50 lbs all together.

Re: Jenny Craig TGO

I'm selling my red T/A hood & my red Formula hood. I just weighed my hood & found out it weighs 58 lbs.

Got a new Harwood 3" cowl lift off that only weighs 15lbs. Should be here in a week.

It took me a minute but I saw you have one too! haha

The front bumper alone weighs 27 lbs. the nosecone to radiator support weighed like 15 lbs. The headlight buckets were about 3lbs each, and the freaking nuts & bolts weighed 1.2 lbs.

These numbers may be off by a little, but overall weight removed was 49 lbs.
We tied the front frame together w/ a 7lb peice of 2'' sqaure tube. The upper radiator support is a 3lb peice of 1'' angle iron. We'll probably replace the iron angle iron with aluminum angle, since the hood will be held down by Dzus fasteners instead of hood pins.

The tricky thing is securing the pop up headlight covers so it still looks stock. For that we used 1/2" aluminum flat stock and riveted it to the fenders & radiator support.

The Aerospace brakes shaved aboout 40lbs of the front end too!

Did i mention the hood weighs 58 lbs!

Re: Jenny Craig TGO

I read that every 100 lbs is worth nearly a tenth. So therefore you might be .05 faster..not too shabby.

Re: Jenny Craig TGO

Thanks, the shop gets cleaned, swept & mopped every morning.

We still have to install the Dzus fasteners. Thats going to be tricky to be the pins lined up just right with the support brackets. Its a lift off hood.
