Unemployed....
Well I am soon to be layed off from Circuit City. I used to love the job but now I cannot wait to be let go. I used to install stereos and alarms in cars but because of the liquidation I have been forced to the sales floor. Starting the 9th of March I will have alot of free time to devote to school and my car. I havent gotten any decent job offers but I should be lined up for unemployment but I am not sure. I got a few sidejobs lined up but am worried about money so if anybody knows of any openings or needs any alarm or stereo work done please let me know.

Re: Unemployed....
i'm sorry to hear that and wish you luck when you find another job....i know how it is when you lose a job and be concern about income. I'm sure we're all penny pinching....
I haven't been able to find a solid job since i lost mine last october when the shop closed and have been always concern and struggling for cash. I'm hoping my interview tommarow will work out and hope that better days will be in the nearby future....and for all as well...

Re: Unemployed....
Dont feel bad, When i got out of the military "aug 2007" till present which in that time ive aquired an AS degree, ive had many interviews, but no jobs, only work ive found is temp work, which sucks because i then become reliaent on that constant money that wont be there.
This country is going down the crapper pretty quick, all this importing/ giving our jobs to other countries to save a few cents ect,
So far school is been just a huge waste of time, its not what you know any more
its who you know and how cheap will you work.

Re: Unemployed....
Same story here, lost my job 14 months ago that I held for 9 years. Sold a couple of my cars last year to pay the mortgage, the LSX swap in the 89 RS is on hold until I'm making a decent living again.
All the manufacturing overseas is killing this country, the goverment needs to stop or slow all this cheap importing so we can have jobs manufacturing and assembling in the US. This country would have more jobs for Americans if we didnt allow so much to be imported.

Re: Unemployed....
I feel so fortunate that both my wife and I have our jobs. You can never feel secure though. I did get laid off for 7 months just prior to the recession. Just as unemployment ran out I got called back. It use to be owning your own business could relieve a laid off job worker but you can't even start your own business anymore. I think if you guys are able to hang in there this time next year it will start to turn around. I suggest covering those cars with a tarp that you are thinking about selling and just don't look at them anymore. If you keep looking at them you will see the money they are worth but once they are gone and the economy turns around you will be mad you let them go.

Re: Unemployed....
....as much as i would of love to start a business in the automotive world...
the shop i was working at, there were several other shops closing down around my area. At first i was thankful that we were still in business but then my former employer decided to close our shop for good...(that's last october)
He insisted me to purchase the business but i didn't want to deal with the red tape of being a business owner, plus where would i come up with the money in the first place to buy the equipment and keep the business running when the times are slow. I hear you need at least a minimum of 25gs to stay afloat.
I pratically have no choice but to sell my own pride and joy soon, because i've fallen into real hard times and need cash badly. Jumping to 4 different jobs in 5 months and living in 3 different places, doesn't help me at all. I just can't believe that it has come down to this....

Re: Unemployed....
I just discovered this thread. I have been laid off 4 times. Its definately no fun. I am a Counselor. I was working as a guidance counselor in a school but they decided Social Workers could do the job better. So now for the past couple of years I am working as a Vocational Counselor helping people who need jobs. Being laid off so many times has kind of helped me in this job. First hand experience. I work in the Joliet area. I help with resumes, interviewing, showing people where to look, and things like that. If there is anything I can do to help I would be happy to. If you need help with a resume or whatever, I could look at it and give advice. I especially feel bad for you guys who have been serving our country and then you come back to this mess. We have to treat our soldiers and veterans better. Anyway... Thats my 2 cents. Seriously, if I can help, let me know.

Re: Unemployed....
I know its short notice but is anybody up for an "unemployed 3rd gen owners club meeting" at buffalo wild wings on thursday? boneless thursday. its supposed to rain anyways so I have no plans of working on my car. Depending on the turnout I am willing to drive to the one in Naperville offa 59, oswego, geneva commons, or aurora.
