Back into 3rd gens after straying
Greetings, midwestern people--I was a member on here in the very late 1990's with a '90 TBI Formula. Moved to Indiana from northern Michigan 10 years ago and sold it to a 17 year old neighbor girl who gave it too much gas on a wet road and met up in a bad way with a telephone pole.
Then bought a '70 base model Firebird and kept it a few years; met a guy at a car show with a nice '70 Chevy truck who had to have my Firebird so we traded titles--no cash exchanged.
Just traded the Chevy (again, no cash exchanged) two days ago for a sweet red '89 TPI Formula with 30,900 heated garage stored original miles. Original everything except for the battery and stereo. Even the exhaust and tires are original. Might even be 1989 air in the tires. I've started the process of fluid changing, though--I like original stuff but 23 year old brake fluid and transmission oil, etc. not so much. It has had regular oil changes though.
I've been unusually lucky--without spending a nickle (well, except for BMV title, tax, & registration fees) I've been able to go from a base model two barrel 350 Firebird with 240,000 miles and a below average paint job that handled like a bread truck to a WS6 '89. I think I'll keep this one for quite a while...but the rear window louvers are going away.
