I'm just trying to figgure out what we're getting for the extra 30-40 dollars you are calculating via your last E-mail. The fairgrounds were paid off from pre-registered members and you were talking about it being 50 if we rented the track. But now we're not renting the track. I was going to come down and pay when I got there, only cause I don't know if I'll actually have a car. Just making sure it's worth the trip. How much are we talking? I believe it was 55 dollars for the National gathering in '99, we got the track, t-shirts, trophies, and goodie bags. they also set up SCCA racing which we had to donate to the local SCCA club for another 15. What events will be at the Fairgrounds?

The fee already collected which was the downpayment went towards the downpayment fee of the fairgrounds, not the total fee. However , I do have some money left over. Also, I need to send in $500 escrow payment as well by next month, which covers clean up, and the remaining balance in case we don’t pay the rest. But if we clean up the money will be refunded.
Right now, the price is so high because I have to go by how many are registered right now, and unfortunately I’ve had over 200 people say they would come but only 70 have sent in payments. What I will do after the event any left over money, which there will be some since as more and more pay I will have excess, I am sending out rebate checks to people.
The track wants $4,000 and right now that’s a little hard to do with only 70 people registered, I can’t go by people saying “oh, I’ll pay when I get there”, because if they don’t show up then we’re **** out of luck.
What the payment gets you is, access to property for the gathering, plaques for the awards, vendors, food, magazine coverage, and an overall awesome time. I may be missing something but that’s the main things.
I also, have to worry about getting a $1 million liability insurance coverage which I’m about to call on.
Just remember as more people sign up, the less the total fee will be, and the more money you will get back. Unfortunately, I’m a college student and I don’t have the capital to invest my own money into this upfront L

Damn Mark, sorry to say but it sounds to me like they are raking you over the coals. The gathering i was planning last year in Canada was 2500 for the facility plus about 300 dollars for the insurance. That was for a 1.4 mile road racing course. They also gave permission to camp on the site. I'd find out from the 1/4 mile track what you get for your 4000. See if they will allow us to camp onsite if we decide to rent the facility. And dammit, git on IM if you can.
