How can I improve my launch??
Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how I can make my car launch better.
Check my sig for the combination of parts I have.
If I take off at around 1500 and then mash on it, I don't get too much wheel spin, but if I try to launch anywhere over 2000 I will burn rubber most of the way through first gear.
Years ago when I raced with leaf sprung cars, I just used traction bars, but I'm kinda lost with my Z.
I don't want to do any thing to change the cornering abilities, just improve the launch.
I'm running 235 60-15 cooper cobra gts tires, I'm wondering if maybe I need softer tread tires?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Steve,
I have thought about boxing the LCA's and the Panhardbar. I don't want tubular components cause I want the car to look stock.
How would the relocating brackets affect the handling and would the stock LCA's bolt up to them, or do they need to be longer.
I think I'll surf over to Spohn's website and do some research.
Thanks for the input
Jeff

Car: Camaro
Engine: 305-150/254 combo
Transmission: TH350 or T200
Axle/Gears: Srange 12 bolt; 5.14 or 5.38
If you want to keep the stock arms and panhard bar, box them in and swap out the bushings for urethane ones. Also, get a set of ET Streets for the times you want to run it at the track.

Check out the SPOHN link. They got everything you could ever want. His relocation brackets don't need longer LCAs
BTW you get my vote for only guy with an LG4 complaining about traction. Good work!

Thank you for the responses.
I'm going to get a set of the relocation brackets.
I think I'll also check into some DOT slicks.
IMHO the LG4 has gotten a bad rap from people trying to make it a 350
If you look at it as a small dis-placement big block, (read more torque on the bottom end) and build accordingly, I think a person will have more realistic expectation of performance.
Another point that I agree with is, If you are going to do a complete rebuild (bored out, turn crank, heads, etc) get a 350
