Question on door bars

I was thinking of using these weld in tube clamps to make the door bar removable when driving the car on the street. First saw them being used in the desert off-road trucks so they should be able to take some pounding. Seems to me these would be a little better than a regular swingout kit that uses a single pin on either end. This has a lot more surface area for a really solid connection. Here's a link showing a version of this on a truck. http://www.desertrides.com/features/...s/DSC01929.php

Re: Question on door bars

It can be many times stronger than the CE swing out kit but if it isn't approved...

Re: Question on door bars

Would it say in the rulebook? Thinking of emailing the tech person at the track I frequent.

Re: Question on door bars

I don't believe NHRA approves that. Never seen it in the rulebook, only the pins.

Re: Question on door bars

humm ok I'll run it by the tech guy just for chits and giggles. Was thinking of bending up some tube this weekend to at least get started on putting a rollbar in the car.
