well, my junk finally went into the 8`s in the 1/4

It was not pretty but it did (in car and outside car video later!) 8.97 @157.93 had to use way too much No2 and ran out of gear at the 800-900` mark but it went.. Best part of the day was the improvement in the 1/8 and 1/4 on a 150 shot...picked up to 127.47 on the 1/8 and 154.3 mph in the 1/4 but still at 9.17 and 6.02
One thing I gotta say is, the 16volt battery / alternator combo is the best thing I did over the winter, voltage never dropped below 15.7 volts even with the fans, water pump, fuel pump, 7al2 ign and bottle heater on Cranks over like it doesn`t have a lick of compression too! Nice day though, windy and 50* good to stretch it`s legs...IT BEEN A LONG WINTER!!!

Thanks Steve, it`s good to be home! (8 sec club) Actually I hit it with even more than that...I`m pretty sure it`ll go the 8`s on a 250 shot though seeing how it`ll 9 teen on a 150. I`m going to upload some slips to show what happened here...don`t laugh at the reaction times, I already know they need a bunch of work this year ( I moved my T brake button again )

Hi Mike, I was just checking to see if ur paying attention!!! PLUS I CANT UNDERSTAND YOU ON THAT POS OF A PHONE!!! No didn`t get kicked out...I ran a 9.54 / 143 and they come running out of the shack looking in the car and asked if I was planning any nitrous runs, I said..Absolutely! They said have the full fire suit and parachute next time you come out, but today..do whatever you want!

Re: well, my junk finally went into the 8`s in the 1/4

First slip here is the 150 shot on the progresser starting on 60% ramped in in 1.5 secs (most of my reactions were .800 range ) This was a real surprise from last year, all I did was upgrade the bottle to a 15 lb, feed line to a 6an and solenoid lines to -4 from 3an`s

Second slip here is the 150 shot progressed in starting at 60% ramped in over 3.0 seconds and the fogger jetted at 28N 24F on a digi set timer set at 2.2 secs for activation, pulled 4 degrees for the 1 kit and took another 9 degrees for the fogger, one hell of a scary trip down this backyard track I gotta say.

Drop that 60' a little more and it'll get it done on less of a shot. Definitely hauling the mail. Should have mine out in a little over 2 weeks at the track, hoping to keep it together this season, even have tickets to pinks all out so hoping for some air time

Makes two of us someday i'll smarten up and go pig block and i'll be buildin to surpass 9's as well, since well, IMO you put something that big a cid up front it'd better perform otherwise it's not worth the time. just got the front end limiters installed this afternoon, so going to find out soon if it's going to work with my junk or not..trying to keep this thing flat on the leave.

Well, I`m still trumped by a certain 434 I know of and a 421 , both SBCs and both running 23`s, the 421 is rolling 8.80`s with 400 on two stages, the 434 8.50`s...Then there is another 434 on 3 stages that runs in the 7`s constant...I just like a full engine bay I guess, because I could get it done with alot less like these guys do.

I know of two even smaller 23 degree sbc motors right now that would go around you as well. Always someone faster out there, a girl even drives one of them That's why I'm happy being the slower guy in my circle.

I've got it limited to 1.5" of travel right now, and there's only 3" of total extension anyhow so we'll see what the middle ground brings me. We'll see what happens i guess for better/worse.

Greeze- there's definately some potent sbc stuff out there, but when i go pig block it will have to be built to what i expect from my junk now. pump gas first and foremost, i refuse to have a driver that has to run $6-12/gallon fuel, and one i go larger cubic inch it will run at least 9.0's otherwise i see no benefit to going larger everything expense and shoehorning wise. last must not least it must be able to be driven with no special attention, no babying, and no maintenance other than normal oil changes...aka, no monster cams that eat up springs every two weeks/month like alot of these monsters out there. I realize i'll never have the funds to be the baddest on the block, and i fi wanted to be, it's have to be turbo'd, S/C'd, or multi stage nitrous since NA can only get you so far....but i see what standard 23* sbc can do on pump gas, so for now i cant understand why having another 200hp on top of that with the extra cubic inch is'nt feasable is all.

Go turbo sbc. Thats what i'm doing and it should easily go 9's. You can fab up a nice single setup for fairly cheap. even a twin setup isnt all that costly

LOL, at face value it's not bad, but getting everything working right and working right for a long time with no tuning/maintaining is another story. I have a number of freinds locally that have all been trying to get their turbo and S/C'd cars to run good CONSISTANTLY and it just has'nt happened, and i just keep going faster and attending more car events then they do The two guys that are heavy into this have spent well...WELLL over $10K just in shop fees/dyno fees, computer programs, computer software to try and tune their stuff. They'll get 1 half azzed pass, then boom, it'll be in the trailer with a problem/software glitch nobody can seem to figure out....around here there just is'nt anybody doing much with that stuff with any sucess so until they do, i'm all done being the guinea pig with my own funds, time to let somebody else take my place LOL!!

That's getting it done for sure! Congrats on the time man. Get that 60' back in check and you'll be hitting the number with a lesser shot.

You went from -4 lines down to -3's? Are they still larger than the pill orifice? - wait, are we talking plate kit or fogger?

Thanks, I have to get up to par for safety stuff (chute, fire pants) but I expect it to go that # on a 250 eventually. I went from 3an flex lines on the plate TO 4an lines and it made a noticable difference big 1/8 mile gain

I talked to some nitrous gurus when i had my kit and they recommend 4an lines for anything over 150 shot.

Definitely get the safety stuff up to par. I've seen too many reasons to have more than needed. - I must have read that wrong on the NOS lines; good deal.

3AN lines orfice is only like .073. I learned the hard way this year by buying new lines and increasing the pill size and not seeing any results. The hard lines are .120 from NOS if you use them.

i am also on the band wagon of folks that want to see the wing. scott, dude, that thing is SCREAMIN'! i just saw this thread, been busy trying to get ready for the wedding (17 days and counting!) so i haven't been on much. i'm gonna hit the track up some this summer, and after all these cars on here getting faster and faster while i'm sitting on the side lines watching, i may just have to pull the trigger on a kit...

^ Matt, in case I don't get a chance again before, congratulations man! I'm just past 7 months now with mine.

I'd be interested in the wing manufacturer & some pics as well. - Check the instructions on mounting the chute properly in relation to the wing.

thanks shaggy! i'm really excited.

you know, i was pricing out a kit last night, and i can get into a really decent wet kit for about $600, that's really not that much in the grand scheme of things...

anyone have any suggestions for what kit i should look at? i'm running a speed density tune and an ls6 intake with a cam that'll love the nitrous: 212/219 on a 115lsa

ls1tech has a ton of sponsors with nice kits. The throttle body ring one sure is fancy Just remember to pull lots of timing and shoot for a good a/f ratio....having them tuned on a dyno wouldn't be a bad idea at all. Figure around a grand IMO to get yourself running on the nitrous, $600 doesn't cover everything. filter, heater, purge, blow down tube, the fitting for the blow down tube, etc etc etc. It all adds up, oh then the $4 a pound to fill the bottles plus buying 1-3 spare bottles as well

i'm running a BRAND X kit from nitrous outlet, about 650 bucks bought the universal kit and the accessory pack, then i got an extra bottle. got about 800 in the whole setup, the 100 horse hits like a freight train, gonna put in colder plugs and try to go to 200 tomorrow night, the ol' 305 TPI is going for 7s or bust....quite literally

i was wondering about the nitrous outlet kits...how's the quality?

edit, i just realized that nitrous outlet is a distributor...so the question remains, but for the "Brand X" brand.

for the money its good stuff, the bottle doesn't have any accessory ports on it, which really sucks, but the nozzle and noids seem nice. it uses NX jets if that makes any difference to you, but its solid stuff. Nitrous Outlet's house brand stuff is pretty good from what i've heard. the noids are good to a 200 shot...which is about as much as i'd want to spray out of a nozzle anyway. or check out their ebay store and sometimes stuff is cheaper. store is nitro dave's nitrous outlet. but anyway, sorry for the hyjack!

im running stockers on the front of mine as well. strange drag brakes out back. its stops pretty dang good, honestly. if you want better stopping power, look into swapping brake pads instead of swapping to a set of brakes that weigh a whole lot more. i put the LS1 brakes on my '93 z28 and kinda wish i had left the lighter LT1 brakes on it.

Re: well, my junk finally went into the 8`s in the 1/4

From Ed`s website:

I`m planning to put the support tabs on top of the bumper, the way this one was put on is not the best example, it`s tipped up way high and they mounted those tabs as far from the spoiler as possible. I picked up a 4130 3/8 tube parachute pack mount, I think I can get it all to come off the license plate area. I made a bolt on mount for the anchor mount, removing the stock bumper I used some 6x6 1/8 steel plates and a 1 5/8 steel tube to span the width all welded together, should look pretty close to the wolfes design for the 4th gens when it`s done.
