coolant canundrum
I plan on taking my car down to the local track for late night drag fun.
the track discourages using antifreeze/coolant at their facility.
what can I use in my car at the track but not have a freezing problem when I store my car in the winter.

Use antifreeze. It's a street car, and "discourages" isn't the same as "prohibits".

Re: coolant canundrum
Water in the cooling system with waterwetter then drain the rad and block for the winter. I installed drain valves on both sides of the block for proper draining even though the car sits in a heated garage all winter.
I have heard of people using RV antifreeze as coolant but any kind of antifreeze is discouraged at many tracks. Any type of antifreeze leak is hard to clean up because it's so slippery.
Water is a better conductor of heat than an antifreeze mixture. The downside is that it rusts metal. That's why you use something like waterwetter or an anti corrosion inhibitor from brands like Barsleak Ristone etc.
Forcing street cars to a non antifreeze ban is very difficult. Even if you drain your rad and fill it with water before you go racing doesn't get all the antifreeze out of the system. There's still a lot still in the block. A few tracks will allow the street cars to run with antifreeze because of the difficulty in changing it however if you do cause a major spill, it will probably cost you for cleanup.

Use distilled or de-ionized water. It will keep corrosion to a minimum. I run about a 25% mixture of antifreeze during the summer. Back to 50/50 in the winter. Talked to some track clean up guys and they said water wetter is actually harder to clean up then antifreeze, fwiw.

Re: coolant canundrum
water wetter basically changes the surface tension of the water so it makes contact with metal better. That's why it it can absorb more heat. It's possible that whatever they use to do that is why it's harder to clean up.
Just remember to drain both sides of the block before putting it away for the winter.
