Power gain from Intake/Exhaust Question

I have a Vortec 350. The internals and vortec heads are stock. The cam is a Comp XR270HR cam. .495/.502 lift. Hedman longtube headers, Edelbrock Performer intake and 600cfm carb. 2 1/2in y-pipe into a 2 1/4 flowmaster muffler. I know most of that is not ideal. It is what I had at the time. The car runs strong. I am now in a position to change some things. My question is would a change to a Performer RPM intake, true dual 2 1/2 with Dynomax bullets, and possibly a Holley 650 dp carb provide a significant power increase?

Re: Power gain from Intake/Exhaust Question

With what you have the exhaust would make the biggest and most noticable difference. The carb and intake would definetly give you more over all HP, but might take away from yor bottom end a bit. So if you don't have gears and a converter I might do those before a new carb and intake.

I have 3.42s and stock converter. A converter is most definitely on the list. But will come after exhaust and intake if the rpm is worth the upgrade. The carb I have will most likely stay for a while. Biggest thing I was wondering is if the exhaust and intake change would make a significant difference. I know the exhaust I have is tiny for anything more than the LG4 my car came with. So you think I will feel a definite noticeable difference with the exhaust change?

You would definitely notice a difference if you changed out the exhaust. The intake won't make much difference until you get the exhaust up to snuff.

I have a hard time believing you're running that cam with stock unmodified Vortec heads.

The Bullets will be unbearably loud, BTW. Been there, done that. These would flow just as well and be much, much quieter. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aero-Turbine...4720%26ps%3D54 Also been there, done that.

The heads have not been machined but I am running LS6 springs with comp retainers. This is supposedly good to .550 lift. I didn't measure my clearances like a moron but all seems well. I've put a couple hundred miles of various driving on it and haven't experienced any problems that could come from the cam lift.

Okay, you said the internals and heads were "stock". So, they aren't completely "stock".

No, not exactly. I meant no machine work. That was lack of detail on my part.
