What are your goals for the 2013 racing season?
Due to popular demand, a new thread has been started for the 2013 season.
Same rules as every other year. Make it something obtainable.
Setting new personal bests? Winning an event? Making it through the season without breaking anything? Making it out to at least one race?
I had a rough 2012 season. If I didn't have to replace the diesel in my tow vehicle, I might have been able to make more passes. Put the car on the bumper twice then lost oil pressure so my season ended just as I was able to get to the track near the end of the season. Same goal as last year to get an 8 second timeslip. If the engine makes as much power as it did last year, it shouldn't be a problem. I guess the biggest goal is to have a great season without having to do any major rebuilds.
I'd love to make it to at least 6 Sunday's this year starting the season off in May. Since every race is out of town, it's not as easy as having a local track. Rumor has it that we'll have a new local track for the 2014 season but I wouldn't bet any money on it.
With all the fast cars being built or rebuilt, it looks like TGO should have an impressive 2013 season.

To make it to the track! Hope the new motor will b finished relatively soon. If the street motor doesn't sell may just take it.

Re: What are your goals for the 2013 racing season?
This year is pretty much the same thanks to an engine that went away early and wasn't ready until the end of the season. Still I managed a personal best in ET and MPH.
Now I have to dial in a new cam, heads and carb, hope the trans stays together another year and put fresh (MADE IN THE USA) bearings in the Dana. The bearings are another thread in themselves.
Ultimately I'd like drive across the country again (Toronto to Edmonton 3500km / 2100miles) and take my grandsons for a day at the track. There's enough room in the Camaro for my luggage, golf clubs and slicks.

Re: What are your goals for the 2013 racing season?
2013 will be a big year for me. i'm graduating in may, and hope to move to maryland shortly after that. my racing goals aren't at the forefront at all. i have a hardtire race in march that i want to go to. given what little testing i've done on the street, i'm probably first round fodder. we'll see what happens. once my wife and i get moved and settled, then i'll reconsider what i can do racing wise.
since i've put the t56 in the car, i've probably put 300-400 miles on the car, which is more than i've put on the car in the last 2 years combined. i LOVE having my car back on the street

Re: What are your goals for the 2013 racing season?
Maybe you'll get to see me this year. The new engine build in 2012 took longer than I expected. Waiting for parts, installing new parts to see what other parts are required etc.
I was going to be at the track near the end of July for my first passes of the season and hurt my diesel on the road trip. Limped it back to the city limits before it finally failed. Ended up melting a piston and scoring the cylinder wall which needed a new engine.
Made it back to Castrol in mid September for my first passes of the year only to put the car on the bumper twice ending my racing for the year. The new engine is making a lot more power and/or traction was fantastic. That's the day you should have been at the track All I got out of the 2012 season was a great in car video of seeing the sky which I don't want to do again. Wheelie bars for 2013 to help keep the front end down.

If I do manage to get back out here (I'm visiting in Edmonton now but the return trip in the summer has a lot of logistics) I'll have a decent sized audience and plenty of video equipment available. We won't miss a thing.
Here's to 2013.

Re: What are your goals for the 2013 racing season?
Hindsight is 20/20. I learned from my last car not to disassemble a running car until you have all of the parts, funds, and/or motivation to put it back together.
I am ready for my L98 car to be faster (last year was 14.6 @ 94.5 on a 2.2) This car is on a pretty tight budget, and this has been part of the fun for me this winter looking for deals. So I have the following ready to go on the top end of my stock L98:
906 casting Vortec Heads ($50 on craigslist, currently at the machine shop)
Alexs Parts Springs/Retainers/Locks ($50 on tgo classifieds)
Comp 1.6 SA magnum rockers ($50 on tgo classifieds)
Summit Racing Stage 1 Vortec intake ($125 from summit)
Holley 600 cfm carb ($15 craigslist + rebuild kit)
Hedman 1 5/8 headers and y pipe ($99 on ebay used)
Still need:
Hydraulic Roller cam and lifters (thinking something in the 220* @ .050, under .550 lift range on a 110/112 lsa)
I miss wearing a helmet, and am hoping these changes will help the car pick up some ET and mph.

Re: What are your goals for the 2013 racing season?
Right out of the gate, I'm going to be extremely optimistic. Lots of huge goals this year. Finish my motor swap in the Formula, run 12s first pass with it, have it capable of 11.xx, but slow it down enough to run the 12.00 dial in cutoff class at Summit Motorsports Park. I'd like to finish in the top 10 in that class, earning me a trip to Indianapolis for the Division race. All in a stock looking Formula.
I would also like to race my dad's Vega a few times, and my uncle's dragster. Vega should go 10s, dragster goes 8.40s.
April seems so far away though

Re: What are your goals for the 2013 racing season?
I wont be racing in points this year at Norwalk but will be going to as many races as possible. New job since graduating college is more important along with a morgage on my new house.
Lots of work has been done in the off season to my car but I just want to be able to make it down the track with as little as possible complications come April. New turbo, rear end, suspention work, engine.
Last year was a huge learning process. From launching a turbo car to dialing in times and running it with constant times. I will say the car was a constant time car when I didnt play with the ecm. Oh and did I mention the season ending race where I busted a piston ring and then broke the ringlands in the process.
Realistic exspectations:
Make 12 second passes(I dont care if its a 12.00 or a 12.99) I just need to over come that barrior.
Make 1.80 60 ft times.
Dont blow my engine up.
Just have fun!! This year isnt about wining races, its just about having fun with good people at the track and keeping my lil V6 in one piece.

My goal is to get the '57 back together and sorted out for the season. Failing that, I'll run the Camaro again (did decent with it last year).

Re: What are your goals for the 2013 racing season?
Since I moved to MN I will now start racing with the Midwest Drag Radial Assoc. Hopefully, I'll see the majority of the finals like I did last year. I was at a 75% ratio of being in the finals at all races I attended. I raced from March to November in 2012 with 2 races attended each month. It wasn't ever the fastest car. Just the most consistent.

Re: What are your goals for the 2013 racing season?
Made my goal last year of crackin into the 10's. Realized that my chassis needs a lot of attention to get the power down.
Picked up a Wolfe Drag bar and Double adjustable QA1 coilovers. Also updating the fuel system with a A1000 Aeromotive fuel pump and return style regulator. 5/8" fuel line from a new sump up to the front. Also need to instal a Line lock. Hopefully will get me into the mid 10's without touching my n/a 350 motor. Larger drag radials and a gear change will be the next things on the list.
The goal is to get the rest of the car up to snuff to handle more output and then make a cam change and put it on the bottle in a big way.

10's with a T56. May as well aim high, I exceeded my own expectations in 2012, which was a pleasant surprise.
I'm building a fresh LS1 now, AI 243'S, Fast 102, etc. I'm going to start another "build thread" soon.

My first goal is to get the GTA I picked up to the track as it was essentially closed after I got back from my honeymoon in October.
Once I swap out the 350 for a 383 or 396 in the Camaro, I hope to be able to run in the mid 11's in street trim on the motor and mid 10's on the bottle. Nothing too crazy for me...

Re: What are your goals for the 2013 racing season?
Be sure to get a stiff wall slick, trying to use any other type of tire results in little consistency and much frustration.
Gears are key, I'm running 4.30's with a 26x9 ET Drag, and I have little or no bog leaving anywhere higher than 4500, and that's with a stock internal LS1. I have been varying launch rpm and tire pressure trying to find best results. I'm probably going to install a 2 step to increase consistency and eliminate another variable. Launching a stick car is a lot different than an auto, but IMO, way more fun. Nothing like screaming out of the hole then banging 2nd as soon as the shift light hits the corner of the eye..

probably won't be me...my first outing will be on a hardtire, so i know it won't be happening then. i'm down on cubes from you but have more cam/intake/heads than your current build, so i'm not sure how it'll run. probably in the upper 11's honestly...might need some pressurized persuasion to get it into the 10's.

I'm gonna put the little 2-bolt main 496 solidly into the 4's just to be onry. - Got all the parts to put the "big" motor back together but I'm gonna sort the induction out on "ol faithful" first.
My biggest goal is to part with this mustang so I can get back after the camaro. - We have our motorhome & trailer up FS as well, already have the new MH & need a bigger trailer.

If I see a 12.99 timeslip i'd be happy. This car is a driver now. Sold all of my drag rims/tires...
Usually I am optimistic in my ET goals and I always manage to get it but this time I'm shooting for a weak number. It s a 9 second capable turbo but at 10psi.. It may still blow way past a 12.99.. It may go 11.99... Or 10.99... i'll let it suprize me.

I had a bad 2012 for my camaro, spend most of time building rebuilding and working out bugs but suffered some damage so motor is all apart. Hope to have together before spring with some upgrades and work this year!
Goals is to get it in the 8's.
Also want to work on making some turbo hotsides for mild stockish type tpi motors a little side hobby

like to get to a track this year, none within 100 miles of me. Then get a mid 11 sec pass.

Re: What are your goals for the 2013 racing season?
I'm planning to do less drag racing than I have the last few years, and not run points lol but do want to give road courses a try with my C63 stock and then after a few mods
Good luck to everyone in 2013

I'm hoping to run 1:25 or better with my new suspension set up. That's 2.5 seconds faster than last year on the stock 180000mile suspension. Gong to take a bit to learn and setup all the new stuff. Can't believe I'm the first one to post goals for autoX instead of drag racing.

Re: What are your goals for the 2013 racing season?
I'm gonna put the little 2-bolt main 496 solidly into the 4's just to be onry. - Got all the parts to put the "big" motor back together but I'm gonna sort the induction out on "ol faithful" first.
My biggest goal is to part with this mustang so I can get back after the camaro. - We have our motorhome & trailer up FS as well, already have the new MH & need a bigger trailer.

My main goal is to stop having random parts failures, lol.
Trailer is sold & new one is on order though, so I'm one up for goals.
