Cooling fan, fans??

I'm using a stock replacement radiator with the factory single fan on my 85 Camaro bracket car. I'm wanting to improve my cooling system and the fan is the first step. What fan, fans or shrouds have you used that cooled well between rounds on gas?

Re: Cooling fan, fans??

I bought a Ron Davis radiator/fan/shroud kit for mine when I put my new motor in. It was like $675 to my door...best thing I ever did. That...and the 16 volt battery make the fan sound like a jet taking off...its the first thing people ask me about in the lanes. LOL

Re: Cooling fan, fans??

I got a set of flex a lite fans from a friend for 40$, they are 399 new. When I test fired them I thought they were going to pull the car off jack stands, lol.

I'll provide a part number if you like, but they are variable speed. I have them wired straight up though. If my mustang heats up at all, it is the stock radiator that is the problem.

Stock 4th gen fans work great and fit the radiator good. When I first put them on my car we went to crusing the coast with them. Lots of cars and lots of traffic in 90 degree weather and my thermostat stuck open, car never got above 120.

Any pics? Any tricks to mounting them? They're dual fans, aren't they?

Re: Cooling fan, fans??

Back when I was on race gas I had a fan in front of the stock radiator pushing, and the stock fan pulling. Worked good in those 90+ degree race days.

Re: Cooling fan, fans??

I don't have any pictures, I sold that car last year. I read an article where they tested a few different factory fan setups. The 4th gen fbody fans put out around 10000 cfm combined.
