The art of launching with a 5spd and torque

I have a built tbi vortec 350 in my 91 camaro. Everybody says I might be able to make it in the highs 12s/low 13s. However, I have been told and read that there is a art of launching with a 5spd. Especially with a high torque motor. Can somebody please explain this art of launching?

You're going to have to learn to slip the clutch. The T5 isn't designed for a lot of torque. Fully expect it to fail.
