Very disappointed with my fellow Vancouverites

I'm a 7th Generation North American and a 3rd Generation Canadian.
I'm just as proud as the next guy to be Canadian, but This morning I couldn't have been more embarrased to be a Vancouverite.
This morning, when the Oly Torch was going through the Vancouver area here in B.C. and right by my shop, It was delayed and re-routed at least 2 times due to protesters. Jesus.
Go Canada GO !!!

Re: Very disappointed with my fellow Vancouverites

I on the other hand feel the total opposite. I'm disappointed that we had to spend so much money on some stupid games which are so unpopular that the Olympics is really the only time they are played competitively on TV. The money could have gone toward much, much better things. Hosting the Olympics is like a company investing money into something that they'll only get half the money back out of. It's stupid.

Seriously, BC already has some of the highest taxes in Canada and the lowest minimum wage, the last thing we need is to get into more debt and have higher taxes.

Re: Very disappointed with my fellow Vancouverites

I won't argue with you there.

Honestly, I was very dissapointed when we won the Bid to host the Games.

With that said...
With the world watching, I think protesters would be smarter.
You're not going to get results by disrupting Volunteer Drivers and driving up overtime costs for Security. Politicians don't give a crap how much money it costs us taxpayers.
Disrupting Politicians' time would yield far greater results, IMHO.

There are far greater problems for protesters to focus on that would have greater long-lasting effects than a one-time event that cannot be stopped.

I was very embarrassed that they chose this way to show the world how ineffective they can be.
