Project starting (My 86 SC)
Howdy,
After carefull decision making and info gathered from around the WWW, here is my plans for my ride, some ideas are still open depending on more info I am waiting on.
Engine:
- 383 or 406 small block Chevy -- will submit specs later, my engine guy has something floating in his shop, need to hear back on what it is.
- Possible Nitrous system, not yet sure here
Drivetrain:
- Custom built auto tranny
- 2500 stall converter
- Upgraded driveshaft (Still looking here, suggestions welcome)
- Strange 12-bolt with the Super Posi (Thanks QWKTRIP)
- 3.73 rear gears (ya baby!)
Chassis / Suspension:
- Kenny Brown Level 2 Ultimate High Performance Suspension Kit (Koni rear, Bilstiens front)
- Spohn adjustable torque arm
- Kenny Brown Super Street Cage
- 4-wheel disk brakes with upgraded calipers
Exhaust:
- Hooker SuperComp shorty headers with 3” Y-pipe
- Random Technologies high flow CAT (3” inlet / 3” outlet)
- Flowmaster 3” CAT back with 2-chamber muffler and single outlet.
Wheels and Tires:
- 17x9 or 9.5 TTII wheels with 275/40-R17 Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP tires. (I have R15's right now and they ROCK!!!)
Interior/Exterior:
- Cluster upgrade
- Dark Grey or Black Leather 4 Gen Seats
- New black pearl paint job
- Rear tailight blackouts
- Tinting windows, hatch done already
- Either a Big Block or Daytona Hood
Well that is it... I am hoping to finish this by late fall. Please let me know what you guys think? I would like to primarly thank QWKTRIP for all his ideas and my crazy brothers for their ideas.

OOOOOOHHHHHHH YAAAAAAA!!!!
I hope you really do want all that stuff and I didn't just talk you into it. You're fixin' to spend a ton of cash on that car and you have to want it bad to make it worthwhile.
Just to let you know what I'm going about a driveshaft I originally had a TPIS aluminum driveshaft (it's really an Inland Empire driveshaft) and I have recently learned it won't hold up in a car running faster then 12s. So I'm getting a heavy duty steel driveshaft from Spohn. He's been running 9s on them with no problems.
Oh ya, the TT II wheels will look great but have you seen the wheels available through ROH? They look nice too. Just another option. www.groupawheels.com That car on the cover page has the ROH RT wheels which is what I chose for my car.

Will check it out... You talked me into the engine, that is about it Everything else was planned, due to my nasty habit of a heavy foot Just did not know alot about what needed to be done. Depending on my NY trip I am hoping to get most of my parts soon, would be in the shop but one of my gf's is a bit expensive to keep happy... W.O.W. don't forget Birthdays, even if they are only new gf's they kinda cut you off if you do...

Not at all. It's completely streetable. I had a 2500 stall with my ZZ4. Remember, it won't hit 2500 unless you stab the throttle. Most the time it will hover around 2000 rpm while you're driving. The 700R4 also uses a lockup converter which will bring down rpms to normal in cruise mode. A good sized tranny cooler will keep the tranny happy. It's just a matter of matching up to the engine power band and vehicle gearing. It's essential for a hard lauching car and will make it easier to modulate tire spin.
