OBD II scan tool

Wassup guys? Hey anyone have or have acces to an OBD II scan tool? My wifes car, 2002 Chevy Malibu check engine light came on today. I have no clue for what, may be due a service but its actually between two services in the book. Was hoping someone here has one can maybe hook me up and pull the code for me, and help me to reset it. She is taking it in for an oil change and coolant flush tomorrow. Lemme know guys! L8RS!

Sorry for the late reply, but I have one if you're close to town.

As far as I know, GM doesn't have any sort of "Time for a Check Up" light- at least not on the common cars that I've had my hands on.

Where do you take it for regular service?

Thanks, I got it figured out today though. They do have "service engine soon" light which comes on at major service intervals though. Atleast thats what the dealer told me a while back anyhow. It turns out the gas cap was not on tight from the last time she filled up. I did a search on line and that was one of the "easy" and often problems for my car. Sounded dumb to me but heck that was it.

I didn't expect midlevel cars to have anything like that at GM. Go figure.

The gascap code is a common one on newer cars. I've never seen it personally, but my car is pretty oblivious to faults that it should throw codes for anyway. Good to hear it worked out easily. (Assuming you weren't charged to fix that!)
