Car will not start and ihave no idea why

So one day i was driving down the road and my car like started to bog and just stauled. When i tried to start it it would start up for 1 second and staul. try and start it again and it would start up for 1 second and then staull then the next time it just turns the engine over with nothing happening. Ive narrowed it down to that my injectors are not pulsing when im trying to start the car. Im not sure yet cause i havent found a noid light to use yet. If anybody has an idea what could be causing this it would be much obliaged.

Things that are wrong that might add are my EGR is not connected since the connector broke and it triggerd a check engine light. And i just replaced my oil pressure switch before this happen and i had takken off my plentum to clean out with intake cleaner, i am pretty sure there are no vaccum leaks either.

And there are no codes except the EGR.

Fuel pressure is fine its at around 46psi at the rail

When you are cranking, does the tach move?

Well, doesn't have the classic tach drop out of a failed ICM, but it could be the ICM, especially if the injectors aren't pulsing.

Also check the ignition module and coil . If they get hot or are going bad they can give these symptoms aswell as the injectors heat soaking . So check the resistance of the injectors cold and if you can get it to start run it till it dies then check them while hot .

how would i messure the resistance of the injectors? just take a dmm and put them to the leads of the injector? and how would i check the coil and ignition module

Ignition module needs to be checked at a parts store and the injectors you unplug them and measure with a dmm and the coil you also unplug and use a dmm . If you have a Haynes manuel it will tell you how to measure the coil and maybe the injectors but the injectors should be 16 ohms IIRC .

Anything under about 12ish for the injectors is toast.

+1 on the ignition module. That is what I was talking about. ICM = ignition control module.

Re: Car will not start and ihave no idea why

Alright well i measure all the injector resistances and i came up with 16.4-16.6 ohms so they are good

Took of the cap(made sure i marked everything) and i ran some test out of the haynes book.

The bat to tac resistance was 1 ohm it says it shoudl be below 0 or close so thats bad right?

and i check thed coil by going from the center post in the middle of the cap to the ground and to the tac and both gave me no reading. In the haynes book when this happens it says replace it. Does this mean that the coil was my problem? Cause i have not check thee ICM so shoudl i check that too or should i just get a new coil and try it out?

did you reinstall with thermo-grease under the ICM. also make sure the ICM bottoms with dizzy(the ICM metal back is the ground.) When you turn the key to the on position, do you hear the fuel pump priming? BBRRR

Re: Car will not start and ihave no idea why

have you checked to make sure you have fuel pressure?

you mentioned you replaced the oil pressure sending unit which depending on your car and the unit can also contain a fuel shut off where if the engine doesn't have oil pressure it will shut of the fuel and if the engine does have oil pressure and the fuel pump relay fails you will still have your fuel pump to run the car home

does the connector on the oil pressure sensor have 3 wires or just 1?
