Banks bolt-on turbo kit

Banks bolt-on turbo kit
Did anyone happen to see Horsepower TV this morning? They showed a bolt-on Gail Banks twin turbo setup.
Didn't go into pricing, but I was still drooling.
Its showed a complete bolt on kit, with wastegate, turbos, tubing, etc. ONly thing missing was an intercooler.
If you did see it, did it look adaptable to our cars?

I saw that show too! Looked VERY intising. Some searches pushed me to BBS' Twin Turbo setup. Only b/c I didn't see any price sheets for the Banks, only heard it was like $6k.
I was thinking if I could setup a Turbo kit on the Vortec 350 TPI Crate from sdpc. Even w/ a low boost of 6psi or so, would push that engine to around 350 or so at the wheels...Would all the internals of that Crate handle it, or even more boost? Any other changes to anything? I'm gettin' a beefed up 700R4 from Pro Built when I do the engine too. Holley Fuel pump is in tank already, and suspension is all done.
Idea's are brewing

I the show and thought it was nice. However I interested in just getting a pair of exhaust manifold for a turbo build up for my car that seem to be the hardest thing going for me. I don't have a welder or know anybody with one so if anybody in the chicago land area know were i can buy a cheap pair or someone that has a pair for sail get in touch. I also email a rep at banks to see if they had a kit for the tpi motor which I thought would be a good ideal what do you guy think.

I've been running the Banks manifolds for about 6 years now. The hood sheetmetal bracing needed to get trimmed, but it does fit under a stock Camaro hood. They've been releasing that kit for about 4 years now, in "just a few more weeks".

I've got the serpentine belt modified. The A/C is gone, the alternator is on passenger top, power steering bracket lowered to the bottom bolt hole on the block, and braces made to the previous bolt holes with some 1/8" steel MIG'd together. Alternator bolts onto a bracket made with 3/8" ID tubing as sleeves around the bolts (to the head/block/alt.) and some 1x1/8" steel flatstock to triangulate things. It's an afternoon w/ the welder and chopsaw.

It wasn't for me, but then I only had the manifolds. Everything else was fabbed. I'll be fabbing new 3" downpipes and dual exhaust in a few months, so I'll need to get rid of the current Kooks exhaust, downpipes, and turbo to TPI throttlebody plumbing.

I'm doing mine the same way Andris did his. I got ahold of the Banks manifolds and gonna piece it together from there. If you do a search on the forums for "banks" you'll probably come across the thread that dealt with the accessories. Basically a seperate company sells a conversion kit that will relocate everything for use with the Banks manifolds. I'm probably going to go that route since I want to keep the A/C (and I'm not as skilled as Andris at fabricating hehe). My setup will be running twin 2.5" downpipes, and I am having a local shop do the tubing for the intake inlet and intercooler piping (good tubing). They did a sweet setup on a local RX7 (FD) so they got my business.

looking at that banks system just inspired me to go with Twin Turbos....doesnt have any intercooler, would i benefit from installing one in this specific system?
also just to clearify i was reading "A built-in integral shuttle valve bypass prevents surge conditions and eliminates backpressure caused by the compressed air hitting closed throttle plates when shifting. Without this valve, power would be sluggish between shifts due to increased lag from slowed down turbos."
this basically means there is no use for adding a BOV correct?

Their shuttle valve sounds like a closed circuit BOV, basically porting it back before the turbo, rather than just releasing it to the atmosphere.

That Banks turbo kit is pretty much a recreation of the same kit used on Camaros in '84 or somewhere in that timeframe. Banks sold a twin turbo kit for Camaros complete with fuel system and full exhaust. Considering the new kit is a near clone it should probably fit the Camaro just fine.

The accessory relocation kit is made by Vintage Air.
