need help with nitrous

ok, this is pissing me off. heres the story. got my car from dad from another state. my dad had installed nitrous on it but hadnt run it in a long time because the nitrous feed line got nicked (because he was stupid and ran it near the freaking driveshaft). so i get the car and run a new nitrous line and i put a new SS autometer line from the shreder valve to the fuel solinoid (previous was rubber). Now my problem is no matter what i do the nitrous line leaks at the nitrous solinoid and the fuel line leaks at the solinoid. i found out the nitrous was leaking at the filter to solinoid connection so i think i took care of that with some teflon paste. now the fuel on the other hand i cant get to stop for the life of me. the SS line i got needs an adaptor to step down to the right size. i used an aluminum step down thingy first then a 90 degree one that was brass. they both leaked. im not using teflon paste of anything on this connection. it doesnt leak from the solinoid side but from where the step down adaptor connects to the little brass piece that goes into the solinoid. so what the freak is wrong? and i just not tightening them enough?
