BLWR PWR

Ive got an 89 Iroc with the Vortech 6psi kit on it and heads, cam, converter, just about the whole nine yards, you name it. The car runs good. best of 12.52@111. I want to upgrade to 24lb. svo's, another chip change and the T-Rex pump. The pump that came with the kit is smaller than the Trex and is mounted (as per instructions) in the engine compartment on the wheel well. I have recently heard that most inline pumps are "pushers" not "pullers" when it comes to moving fuel. Is a better location to mount the pump under the car before or right after the fuel filter?

It's always good practice to mount the fuel pump before the filter, a good place to mount the pump (on a 3rd gen) is under the car, forward of the rear axle...remove the rear seat on the driver side for access to put locknuts on the bolts...also its a good idea to put a piece of rubber between the pump and the floor board of the car to cut down on vibration noise....

another way of thinking... if you mount the pump after the filter, you dont mess the pump if you get crap in your gas(aka dirt).. just make sure its lower than the fuel tank, cuse most electric pumps dont pump air well..

Most pumps do indeed pump better than they draw. Therefore, if you are only using one pump it should be low as possible and as close to the tank as possible. However, if you are still using the intank pump and the T Rex will be a booster pump then position won't matter as far as pumping goes. The intank pump will feed it. A cooler mounting location than the engine compartment might provide longer pump life though. Most pump manufactures will not warranty a pump if it doesn't have a filter before its inlet. When using a "booster pump" configuration it is a good idea to have a filter between the pumps and after the final pump.
