NOS question
I was thinking of running nos on my gta, but i have a few questions.
1. Will my stock fuel system be able to handle a 100hp kit on top of all my other mods? It already makes around 400hp.
2. Will my stock pistons and rods be able to take the abuse?
3. What kind of system should i get? I was thinking of getting a direct port system. Have any of you done this?
Any helpfull comments would be much appreciated.

If you are currently making 400 horses, adding nitrous could be dangerous to your pistons and rods. Forged pistons are recommended for any engine making 450 or more HP. Some say even less than that, but 450 I think is the general rule of thumb.
Also, depending on how much you want to spend, the port injection is probably a better system then the plate set-up. I think NOS may be a bit more expensive than other companies on their nitrous systems, but they will more than likely have any set-up you are looking for. Edelbrock offers a nice plate system that is less expensive than NOS systems and you can get a 100HP boost wich is the Performer system or the Performer RPM system which offers up to 250HP extra and is adjustable.
You would also likely want to upgrade your fuel pump to handle higher pressure when the nitrous is injected as your engine requires more fuel when nitrous is pumped in.

Rule of thumb, Its not recommended to use a plate system on a LT1 or TPI, because studys have shown that it does not reach the first to clynders!! I would recommend direct port(expensive) or going with any type of Nozzle system, NX will be your best.

Thanks for the advice. Would it be possible to put a NOS sportsman fogger kit on a tpi engine? If so how long would it take to install? I plan on using the smallest jets untill i can build a stronger engine(probibly a 406 :hail: ), and i am going to upgrade the fuel pump. I go by the old saying "if it pops, build it bigger", so i don't mind taking a little risk.

It was in a Mag. article, Im sure it would be the same for the super ram too. Figure it this too, what is the max you can spray on a plate? 175 and thats pushing it!! Get a NX Piranha Nozle for 60 bucks and there rated up to 250HP. They tell you to position them 6 inches back, so that way the natural flow of the air guides instead of it being behind the TB shooting a sharp stream right past the first 2 cylnders.
