I'm not sure if this is possible or not. Would it be possible to lock posts or disable replies in the classifieds section after say a year from the original post or a year after the last reply, something like that? It seems like once or twice a week someone is asking questions on parts that were for sale years ago..

It is possible. It is something we can consider. We can have them auto-lock after X amount of time.

Some time ago, we implemented the ability to allow the user to edit their thread title with a pre-made "[SOLD]" tag, in red font, that they could select when their item had been sold. This way, the thread would have a red [SOLD] tag in their thread title so that those reading the thread title could clearly see the item was sold. This put the ability in the hands of the people who would know if the item is still available or not.

Despite this, and making it an Announcement so that people knew about it, it does not appear to me that it gets utilized often. Moderators will also lock the thread when they see those [SOLD] prefixes in the thread, as well as others that the original poster requests.

Or if your system can send a reminder to their e-mail after X amount of time so people can change the status to sold lots of people just forget I think.
