Where to get AC and smog detete pulleys
This thread is awesome, exactly what you want to see if you have removed your AIR and AC or are thinking about removing either one.
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/faq-...ight=AC+delete
The prices have gone up a bit since this thread, they are like $45/each. I ordered one of each and it was a little over $100 with shipping.
My smog pump is just sitting there doing nothing, so there's a little less weight and cleaner looking engine. The AC compressor will come out when I get the pulley and go on my son's car, kills two birds with one stone. WE DON'T NEED NO STINKING AIR CONDITIONER!!
This will get rid of some weight and clean up the engine compartment. Ill never be able to sell the car except to someone like me who wants toy, but I believe I passed that point some time ago anyway.

Weird, I just finished placing my order for those after confirming the part numbers on that thread and before checking this forum.

So, what prevent us from simply removing the unwanted accesories and getting a shorter belt?
I know mine is air pump delete and it just has a shorter belt--no idler pulley.

They discuss that in that other thread. I think the consensus is you can get a shorte belt and just bypass the smog pump, but for some reason you've got to have the AC delete pulley. Im not really sure why.

You can get away without using a smog delete pully, however I installed one in my car because I wanted to have a stock size belt and stock routing. However, I still needed to get a longer belt to make things fit right.
As for the AC pulley, that is an absolute must. Due to the way the belt is routed, removing the AC pulley would not allow the belt to tention properly and it would be just useless.
Besides... I like having the look of a proper engine compartment. When you remove the smog pulley, you are left with a gaping hole in the bracket. Oh, and another thing, with that pully in place, the bracket is once again braced against the engine block. Otherwise there is an empty bolt hole and the bracket rattles.
