Texas Series Championship SLOT CAR RACE THIS SAT AND SUN!!!
A few of U have mentioned some interest in checking out the slot cars, that I am involved with, that I have referred to in some of my posts. Well, this weekend is a good opportunity in that there is a Texas Championship Points race this Sat and Sun at the slot car track in Katy.
The address is 615 S. Mason--about 3/4 of a mile to a mile south of I-10 on S. Mason, on the left--in the Sears home improvement store strip center--next to Fuzzy's Pizza. Ph.--281-599-9040
They will be racing 7 different classes based on motors and body styles. These re NOT the HO size cars like U might see at X-mas. These are 1/24th scale--like the models U might have built as a kid-- About 6 inches long!
Racing will start about 10am both days and go until early evening (Sun may want to get there no later than 3pm). I plan on being there Sat afternoon/evening, and Sun early afternoon. Come check it out!
U WILL be amazed how fast the cars are! The Pro unlimited class (Sun afternoon), run the 155ft. road course track in a little over 1.5 seconds in qualifying and race laps of 1.9 seconds per lap!!! Think about that for a second! I don't race anymore cause they are so fast I can't see the cars anymore!.
IT IS FREE TO WATCH!

Gotta love air-conditioned-racing in August.
They still run in real slots?, you know, peg in groove?

Shoot, I wish Id read this last Friday. That place is literally right around the corner from my house. I go to that Sears Hardware all the time.

Same here, I live right across the street from that Sears and go there often myself. Now that I think about it I've seen your car at that intersection before, sounded good!

I'll definitely have to. I was also intrigued by your proposal of using that parking lot as a GTG spot, that would suit me 100% since I live right around the corner at the Cimarron/Mason intersection.

Yeah removing the cats really made a big difference in the sound. I might have a shot at winning best sounding car at idle now. Before you could hardly hear it at idle.

REally! have you been to the meets before? YOur car looks nice in that little pic in the sig. I live down Cimarron Parkway off Mason a couple of stop signs. We should get together sometime and check out each others cars.

I will be going to the slot car track this coming Fri night--probably about dark--going to start racing in the Fri night class of racing. Am building a car but won't have it ready for a week or 2. Drop on by for a few minutes if U want to. I'll give U the nickel guided tour.

I can make it, but my car can't. I couldn't get it registered today since my proof of insurance for it has yet to arrive in the mail. You'd think that my insurance card for my truck would be enough to prove that I was covered, but not in their books.

Call 'em. They will usually fax/e-mail it to you right away. (most will).

I know, but right now to save money I'm on my girlfriend's insurance policy. Also it is a law in this state to be on each other's insurance if you live together. She doesn't get off work until 5:30 so I'm screwed. I'm thinking about just putting one of her plates on it and taking it over there though, it is literally just around the corner.
