I will be slower than the stangs, simply because there will be none that are 4cylinder or v6 there that aren't older or same year than what i've got. I know a newer v6 will take me, i've taken them in the 1/8mile but in the 1/4 i know they'll take my stock 3.1L even with my ram air, it doesn't do much as far as performance. Atleast I dont' think it does. If I does, i'll make more than one pass with and without my ram air intake. Can't be that big of a difference, it's the only modification i've got and I can't tell too much off a difference. Maybe there is, we'll see.

CharcoalBird, that is why you need to put that 305 5 speed in your car to give it some pep Probably not much but some.

Just wanted to check and see if everyone is still up to help me with the swap. I am thinking now just pull the 305 and drop the 6.0L in and let lethal run the wiring and fuel, or just the wiring. Also I need someone that knows how to do the exhaust. I want to run true duals, but I have to see how much clearance I need. I going to look into ordering the crossmember and mounts today. Like I said before the engine will be up for graps after the swap and I am accepting offers from anyone that helps out with the swap.

Hey, Brian don't count me out yet I'm going to try to get it together by saturday. The guys at alamo say that the builder can turn it around in three days so we'll see. The rocker swap is easy if you want help to get it done we can do it thursday or friday, did you buy a kit with the locks and everything you need also pick up a set of valve cover gaskets.

Ive got time Tuesday and maybe friday morning. They are Crane Cams 1.6 ratio stamped steel, and they have locks and nuts. I also have a set of valve cover gaskets.

That sounds about right on the tranny, my tranny builder is pretty fast at redoing it (but then again he does my transmission over and over he is an expert lol)

Urslo, how much are the LSx engines at Lethal?? Also, how much do you hope to get from the 305 5sp? I don't even know what is reasonable to offer on it.

CharcoalBird, I was at Lethal the other day and one of the guys had a LT1 already built with some aftermarket heads and stuff and they wanted 2500. The only thing about some those engines is that it is only the block. Another guy has a LS1 block for 900, but you have to get the rest of the stuff.

Also when I looked back on some old post and saw that some was selling the LS1 engine and trans for 2500 is a STEAL!!!. I think toogood posted it.

As far as my engine goes give me a call at 210-818-3277 or email me a witch_intl@hotmail.com we can work something out that will work for the both of us.

An LT1 would be a definate improvement over what i've got now, but it doesn't seem so appealing to me as an LS1 or even a carb'd 350 for some reason. I called HP Performance here in town, they have a LS2 out of a GTO hooked up to an auto for $5900...way out of my budget range. And right now, so is $2500. So since I can't really afford not to have my car, let alone try and swap engines, I think i'll focus more on the looks of it. Maybe even run really low boost with a turbo, doesn't cost much to make a setup myself($800), and that'll be more than enough to keep up with some of you. We'll see how these next couple of months go, work isn't going so good as far as hours.

Also, I work 6:30-2:30 on saturday. I'm going to try and get out at 2 being Test N' Tune starts at 2:30. Your on Brian.

Darcom, you will only need a cage if you run faster than 11.50 other wise a helmet is required if you running 13.99 or quicker they might even check for a drive shaft loop 12.99 on street tires, 13.99 on slicks. unless you have a soft top then a roll bar is required. The SAR page has the rules under the race basics section.

Lets get a headcount on everyone that's going.
So far All I know about is:
Tomas(z28camaroracer)
Anthony(toogood)
Brian(Lucid)
Jim(CharcoalBird)
urslo(never got your name, so what is it?)

Tomas, on Darcom's website, he has 2 videos that have his times posted. hope to see you out there man.
Anthony, I know, I ordered a new battery, should be in this week.
Brian, pick up my bass and refresh...I need to get one of those wrist strengtheners, that's the reason I left the last band I was in. My wrist would start hurting and I didn't want to mess it up so I stopped playing. I'll fool around on it a bit, i'm sure im pretty rusty.

Hey Jim
Are you talking about one of those grips that you flex back and forth to make it stronger? You could wear a wrist brace and write SA3GO on it lol

I put the tranny mount in today, and removed the majority of the junk out of my car. She moves pretty good now. Anthony and i went looking for some used tires, but its hard to find some in that size.

Thomas, will bald front tires fail tech inspection?

I'm just going to show up at the track. Get out of work at 2:30, hopefully 2 instead. I think I might just watch. Money being tight, can't really spend money, let alone risk my car. I'm also burning oil, every so often, i'll see smoke commin out from my hood. Not running low or dripping.

Brian, if you bring the tools, you can use my front tires if you need to.

Im not sure brian, normally they check for leaks, battery hold downs, seat belts. I can throw my road huggers in my truck if you want to run them we would have to swap them at the track or meet up go back to my place do the swap and go to the meet at exxon. you got number call me let me know. We could even do the swap tonight if you want.

Jim check the o ring on you dizzy 3.1 and 2.8 have a problem with it leaking get it checked out, that is how I got my 89 for 500 the guy ran it out of oil it was pouring out around the dizzy.

If anyone that is going has a camera that can make digital vidio please bring it out to the track if you can, I would like to get some vids of my car at the track. thanks

It looks like there will be a farly good turnout.

Also lets meet at biffs at 12:15 then cruise over to the exxon at 12:45 as the SA3GO.

Some time we need to set up a track meet during the week so everone will be able to go out and make some base line passes.

F-Body vs. Fox Body shootout was pretty cool. Good watching, there were a few thirdgens out there including 1 that made it to the semifinals. Unfortunetly the Fox Bodies took it this year. That 5.0 was pretty fast though, 8.5sec in the 1/4...I think the closest f-body was a 2nd gen camaro and his best time i believe was 9.3sec.

I had fun for the my first time out for the drags, and learned a couple things about my car in the process. Thanks Thomas and Jim for your help, i would have been pretty lost without you there. I had a quite a few guys come up and ask me about my car though, they just liked Camaros, especially during the Midnight Madness (so i told them about our club). We are going to need some cards pretty soon, so we can pass them out.

My best time was 16.2 at 82 MPH, that second gear auto and 2.73 rear gears are not made for the 1/4 mile.

Hey Brian have you found a place to host the vids from saturday.

My z is going to be down for a while, it looks like i'm going to have to do some engine work hopely just valve springs, she wouldn't rev past 5500 last month was 6000, month befor was 7000. thats the only thing i can think of for now, it sounds like it floating valves at 5500.

I'm still trying to get my 89 ready for the cruise. If someone has rams number or daniel number we need to find a place that would be able to accomadite us for lunch in kerrville.

No problemo Brian. How many people did you have ask you about your car? Last time I went the only people that even glanced at my car was Ram and maybe 2 other people.

Oh that's right the cruise on the 2nd...no way I can do that. First I don't know if I have the day off, and even if I do, that's too far of a drive for me, need to save money. Hurtin. Glad I even got to go to the F-Body vs. Fox Body shootout.

When i was getting ready to leave MM there was a third gen camaro running around. told him about the club and to look for this thread. He said that he has some other friends with third gens.

For the cards we will need to have a place for our SN and our names the only problem right now would be that you can view the SA3GO page so we would have to have the page address and have a link on the page to get them to here. untill the site is up and running.

Jim
Two guys in Silverados came over during the grudge races, one of them had a thirdgen camaro. I was going to talk to them more, but the lane started moving so i had to go run(but i did tell them the website). There was a guy from a Nissan Sentra from San Marcos that totally spanked my car after we talked. There was a young guy that came over and wanted to just talk about Fbodies.

A bunch of peeps just came over and looked at the engine, i got tired of it not starting so i just left the hood up and pushed it down the lane.

Thomas, i dont know how get the videos from the camcorder onto here, but maybe i can talk with some one who does. I dont have a video capture card. BTW i looked through the footage, and i didnt see your car in any of the runs. I went through it kinda fast, so ill check again.

I know I will not be able to make the Dec 2nd cruise. I am sponsoring a first time home buyers and investment seminar at my church. If you know anyone that is looking to buy a house or looking to invest in some property let me know. I might try to get to Biffs this Friday.

I have the message board up now, just in case thirdgen goes down again and where we can post our own messages. I dont think we have the ability to add attachments but its a good starting point for getting in touch with each other in one place.

Another Thirdgen club?? If you do decide to make one, might want to call it different because there already is a San Antonio F-Body. Why don't you just join up with us? Just a thought.

Who is still planning to go on the cruise, Brian I know right now you not sure I think Jim already said he won't make it. Lets try and get a head count on who will be going so I can get ram the final numbers to make lunch reservations in kerrville. We need as many third genners as we can get there being that we are the ones that set this up.

The whole South Central board--including this thread has been pretty dead the last week/10 days. I'm sure after the first, it will get back to normal (whatever that is--LOL)

Everybody be safe and watch out for the amateur drinkers/drivers!
