2006 Fall Brawl Head Count--Please respond

In trying to work out plans with LMP/Sealy drag strip, It would really help if I had a rough count on how many are planning to come to the meet-- nothing that I would hold U to--just need an rough idea. If we can get enough people together, we will probably be able to talk them into giving us our own staging lane, rather than just mixing in with all the rest of the Test-N-Tune cars.

If we have a large enough number, I can direct LMP officials to this thread, so they know I am not making up numbers!

I know thngs happen--plans change, but If U are at least "planning" on attending, Please post here in this thread.

I'm hoping the number of responses we had in the thread about whether we should have it at Sealy or not, is a better indication of people planning to show up.

We will be there.

We will be there with Jays car and Danelle's car. It is running and driving on it own power. Waiting on a few parts to complete. Can't wait to show up with two LS1 powered third gens. Jay has a new setup we will be testing that day. See ya at the track.

Not sure about their policy. Shoot them an email!

Lonestar Motorsports Park - Home Page

Even if they don't, if we keep it low key (hidden), probably get away with it!

If U see a guy named RudyT there--make sure he leaves some for the rest of us!!!;;LOL!

I'd like to see the egr setup on the vette. (I understand if you go with vortec heads you have to plumb an exhaust intake to the egr like the vettes).

zz4monte, these are one great group of guys,.. & girls too

i have been to a few meets here & there & they have always made me feel welcome even though i don't have a thirdgen, just a old POS monte with a TPI in it.

if i can i'll be there, but it is unlikely i'll make it out.
i wish i had found this site before i sold my thirdgen, but like ZAP says, hindsight is 20/20

Unfortunately, in the last email exchange with LMP, they are NOT willing to give us any kind of price break, for general admission or tech cards.

The only thing they offered was to rent the track which is way out of our reach!

I tried!

If just 1/2 the people that have posted in this thread show up for the Fall Brawl, we would have the biggest turnout we have in the last couple years.
Sure to see and meet as many of U as possible. Try and make it!

Looks like I am going to make it. I think I am going to put the car on the track this time.

Has Coz_305 got his car fixed? I think he will be my only competition.

I was planning to go, but going on a cub scout camp trip that weekend. But I've got a dumb question, why does the website for Lonestar Motorsports Park say they are closed on the 18th and having Mopar day the 19th? What am I missing here? No mention of TGO anywhere on the site.

News to me!

I just looked at the web site--you are right--LOOKS LIKE LMP HAS SCREWED US OVER BIG TIME!

IT'S EITHER CHANGE THE DATE OR THE LOCATION.

I WILL TRY AND CONTACT THEM SAT MORNING--WILL LET U GUYS KNOW WHAT I FIND OUT!

The following email was sent to LMP @ 7:40pm--Fri evening--11/03/06:

U will have to excuse my confusion, but LMP seems to be closed according to the web site on Sat Nov. 18th?

If U recall, we exchanged a couple of emails about the Hou. area Thirdgen club having our annual big meet--2006 FALL BRAWL-- that day. It was followed up with a phone call from U, and a subsuquent email reconfirming the same.

Since then we have done some heavy advertising in the thirdgen community, and were expecting many of the local members, as well as several from Austin, a couple from Dallas/Ft. Worth, and a couple from San Antonio. A total of between 30 to 40.

Any suggestions about what course to take now? We are not big enough or rich enough to rent the track.

Awaiting your reply.

Thank You,
Craig Landry

I WILL TRY AND CONTACT THEM SAT MORNING--WILL LET U GUYS KNOW WHAT I FIND OUT!

Do we need to move it to the 19th? I know alot of people have already asked for the 18th off for this event. Can we move it to hmp if we have to? I know they have always been cool and are a sponsor of another site I am on. Seems
like Lonestar doesnt have their act together yet. I did kinda want to run 1/4 mile though , but we need to go somewhere that will be good for the event. The only thing Lonestar had going for it was that we could barbque there.

My first reaction is to wait a couple days and see if LMP even responds to the situation before we change everything--but only a couple days--time is not a luxury right now!!!

I would think we need to keep it the same day--Nov. 18th-- if at all possible, since people have made plans--taken time off from work--ETC.

I looked at the HRP site and all they have listed is racers banquet--sent an email to see if they are open that day, but I doubt it!

SOMEBODY GO TO THE HMP WEB SITE AND SEE IF U CAN TELL IF THEY ARE OPEN AND WHAT'S GOING ON!
My computer does not get along with their web site--and we need to make sure they are open, cause if they have a roundy round show, they usually close the drag strip.

If HMP is open--I think we should do the meet in a park, (like the park we have used before that is right down the road from them) and then go to the track when they open. I am pretty sure they are open only in the evenings from now til the end of 2006.

UPDATE: SUN MORN--11/5/06--8AM

While I have not received a reply to my email, I did call out to LMP and talked to Jennifer (personal sec) to John Hennessey (track owner)--she said as far as she knew they were open Sat the 18th--I explained the web site said they were closed, and i briefly explained the situation--I am supposed to call he Mon morn and see what the deal is.

I called HMP last night and talked to Grahm Baker (track owner) and he said they WERE open the 18th--they are having a big show--Clobberthon--11 classed/12,000.00 payout--but he assured me they would be open--not sure what time they open. I am going to call back and find out. I also saw a deal on the drag strip page about car club events, where they will run a special show for clubs including a dial your own time eliminations, as long as we do the organizing and all they have to do is do the clocks at the line (which I was going to do anyway if we do our event) or we can go with the time bracket concept like we already have discussed.

Have not talked to HRP yet--I called and got recording--have to call Mon between 9 + 5.

After talking to Jennifer Mon, she said she would call back with info--I did not hear from her Tue and I called back again and left a message on her voice mail Tue afternoon--still nothing. They have not replied to my email or voice mail as they said they would.

If they do not respond by the end of the day today, I see no choice but to change locations! WE ARE going to have it on the same date as advertised--Sat Nov. 18th-- too many people have made special arrangements for day off from work, personal plans, ETC to let LMP screw up our 2006 Fall Brawl any more than they already have!

I will call HRP and HMP Thur ( not sure if HRP is open yet--never called to confirm).

I will tell U guys one thing--this is the last of these meets I am going to put together. I am going to respectfully step aside and let somebody else step and take over arranging these things. Too may headaches, too time consuming, too hard to get anybody to help out organizing. With increasing demands on my time from work and personal family crap that I have to deal with, it's just not worth it to do this thankless job where U receive more critisizism than anything else! So, when this one is behind us, I'm outta here! I'm tired of hearing sentences that start our 'U know what U should have done...." OR "U know what we need to do...." If U guys think it's so easy--U DO IT!

While I understand your feelings exactly, I must say I am sorry to hear you say that. You have practically single handedly kept interest going in these meets for the last year or two. I for one appreciate that. Its been nice to have these meets/car club as something different and fun to do.

I hope Lonestar comes through on this one. This seemed like the meet that was going to regenerate a lot of excitement and interest again after it has been lagging.

Im going to call them today too and see what I can do to find out anything.

I just called the track and spoke to Laurel. She said that she just recieved 100% for sure confirmation that the Lonestar track will be open on Saturday November 18th. She was not sure about the time, but she thinks it will be 12 noon. She said the website will update in the next few days.

I recommend we should keep the plans to go to Lonestar based on this information.
