Please Help HOuston guys - I really need to find the guy who bought my sons' car

This guy bought Max's white 90 V6 firebird that was crashed in the front. His name (supposedly) was Glenn Green and he signed a reciept and put his TDL number. Since then I have recieved 2 red light camera violations in Baytown at the same intersection, GArth Rd. and I-10. I sent in a notice after the first one that my car had been sold but they didnt take it because I didn't have his address, so I asked for a hearing. Its next thursday in Baytown. Then the second one came yesterday. I got his address from the TDL number from a cop friend. Supposedly lives in the MOntrose area. Went over there at lunch today and they never heard of him. Now what? Does anyone know him? Has anyone seen the white firebird, perhaps still wrecked in the front. He works at an auto repair shop, he had on his shirt with his name on it when he bought the car. If I don't find him I may be screwed with the judge.

Next time Im going to get the address, and take the plates off the car!

Re: Please Help HOuston guys - I really need to find the guy who bought my sons' car

Report as stolen..???...

If that works, they will HAVE to pull him over, get the facts how long he's " owned " the car, & find out why he hasn't transfered the title..??..
So MAYBE he gets arrested-- but it's not your car, so is that some form of ID theft or misdermeaner // felony for not transfering ownership???

You're getting the tickets, so someone fubarred!!
Title // plates not transfered?? I can't remember in Texas if the plates stay on the car, or if the new owner gets new plates.

Can you cancel the plates..??.. If you're getting tickets, try to get them cancelled. If they say you can't because it's not you car, ask why you are getting tickets!!

******Anyway, for legal actions, contact, DA, DPS, States Atty, or talk to a lawyer.******
......

( edit )
I don't think it would be a good idea to tell anyone how you got an address!!!

Re: Please Help HOuston guys - I really need to find the guy who bought my sons' car

MY cop friend advised me to take the plates the next time. I filled out a form online "
Vehicle TRansfer NOtice" on April 29th. I procrastinated doing that even after the first violation that came in February. So then I got the second violation notice dated 04/14 so I am still responsible!! I thought they guy was probably honest and just didn't know, but now that his TDL address is not correct, and I watched the video clip of the second violation I getting really worried. In the clip the light is RED for about 4 seconds before the car even comes into the frame!! He almost collided with the cars coming from the side. I need to find that car and get those plates before he kills someone and they come after me!

So please, if everyone can ask around and maybe find him I would really appreciate it

if you have a time of day that he crosses the intersection, can you camp out and follow him the next time he goes there?

Re: Please Help HOuston guys - I really need to find the guy who bought my sons' car

The first one was at 240 am! The second was like 4pm. I thought of going to that area and looking for car dealerships or big auto repair places, since I assum that is his work area, but geez, what a pain!. I just talked to the Houston police dept, and of course they cant do anything! they never do anything! I asked if I could report it stolen and he got real upset, that how could I say that fraudulent statment to a HOuston Police officer. WTF? I was asking advice for crap sake! I think cops have to take a course on being an ******* as part of their training.

Re: Please Help HOuston guys - I really need to find the guy who bought my sons' car

if you have a bill of sale with his DL number on it, a trip to the judge will probably be productive. a DL number is MUCH better than an address...
if he did give you an address, it would probably be the same one the DPS has, which would do you no good anyway

keep us updated...I'd like to hear how this resolves

when's the court date?

Re: Please Help HOuston guys - I really need to find the guy who bought my sons' car

OK so go ABOVE the local police-- DPS!!! Aren't they Big Brother in Texas any more?
When I lived there, DPS was THE MAN!! Handled everything from registering, to tags, to drivers tests, to inspections!!
Basicly, anything NOT handled by police // county.

See if you can get a couple free consoltations from a couple lawyers.

States Attorney, District Attorney!! You pay them with taxes right? Get some help before the guy commits a felony!! AND they come looking for YOU!!!
Get some kind of record showing you looked for help!!!

Re: Please Help HOuston guys - I really need to find the guy who bought my sons' car

If you can show that you sold him the car? you can maybe get the tickets dismissed. It is against Texas law for the buyer to not transfer the title. That is how I understand it. It would be a good idea to get with the DPS and have them look into it. And you should get with the Judge as soon as you can.

Re: Please Help HOuston guys - I really need to find the guy who bought my sons' car

I got the guys address from a cop friend of mine from his drivers license and went to the hearing in Baytown last Thursday. It is just with a guy in the PD, not a judge, he removed me from being responsible for both red light violations based on the evidence (bill of sale with TDL number). I guess that is that

Re: Please Help HOuston guys - I really need to find the guy who bought my sons' car

Filing a fraudulent report of it being stolen would have landed you in hot water.

DPS would be able to tell you if the buyer registered/titled the car in his name if you provide them the VIN number.

I purchased an IROC a couple years back and the kid had several warrants. I immediately went to the tax office and registered and titled the car in my name. The police would constantly pull me over and say that I had a warrant.

As soon as I purchased new plates, the police left me alone because the plates were tied to my name and not to his.

You might have some problems with this irresponsible person in the future. Make sure to keep any evidence of the sale, court reports, etc etc in a special folder just in case he screws up again and they come after you because he still has those plates on the car.

Definitely should have taken the plates....Never trust anyone with anything that has your name attached to it.
