Goals For Your Car Next Year?
At the very least I would like to have my interior complety re-done(leather)plus emblems, original stripe kit(gold) & IROC-Z on doors.
If I have a real good yr financially I want to have some Boze wheels on that bad boy probably 18's and all new suspension maybe lower it an inch or so.
And if I get really lucky and stumble upon some REAL money I'll have an LSX in it, but thats just a pipe dream.....
How about you guys?

Re: Goals For Your Car Next Year?
I just met my yearly expectations with changing out the steering column, welding in new floor pans, and overall cleaning the car. But next year I'm thinking I'll finally get subframe connectors, new GTA emblems, and door hinges. Nothing to crazy, just necessary stuff.

Re: Goals For Your Car Next Year?
Realisticly, I just want to keep mine running for another year is the main goal. 204,xxx and still going.
I would love swap to a 4th gen. posi disc rear end. Start upgrading the rest of the suspension, new front brakes, front end bushings, get the car solid and fresh, not that it isn't, just fix and replace all the original 20 yr old cr@p that's still on it. Oh yea, PAINT. Need to paint it bad. Got torilla chip size flakes coming off the passenger side just past the door. Stupid Maaco

Re: Goals For Your Car Next Year?
today I started stripping my car. removed the side mouldings, the windshield weatherstrip. and started taking the paint down to bare metal, or very close to it. I'm going to spend the next few months repainting it, and replacing the front clip.
I'm also going to replace the door panels, I have ones to match my seats ready to go
still not sure about the paint job.... grey with stripes, or two tone... can't decide

Awesome can't wait to see what it ends up looking like. How do you feel about the Mettallic Gunmetal Greys? That is by far the nicest looking grey I have ever seen.....

I just got some perfect 2nd gen seats in mine yesterday, and I am going to have a headlliner put in locally for $70 quoted materials and labor. Hard to beat that price.

I would love to have a new paint job! Just trying to get all the wear out of the one I have. I need to put the head liner in Ive redone. I just hate tearing my interior apart.
I am afraid that when I take the molding off the inside doors the brackets will brake and the they won't be tight anymore. That's the two biggest jobs I would like to do!

technically, GM medium grey is also called gunmetal grey, so I guess that's what I'm using after all...

It should look great when I'm done with, no matter if I go with stripes or the two tone

After I get mine on our lift and get all fluids/filters changed out, I am going to start sanding down for paint. Still have to figure out the plastic bumpers though.. never painted plastic before..

Re: Goals For Your Car Next Year?
I started auto-x late last year so almost everything going forward is related to making it handle better. It's a base model v6 so had none of the suspension upgrades. I've added a steering brace, 36/24 sway bars and removed the a/c and rear seats. You know the rest. STB, SFCs, springs, shocks, struts, bushings etc. etc. etc. Then lowering, a racing seat and harness and relocate the battery. I don't know if it'll all happen by next year. I just got 4 17" ROH Snypers with 275/40 tires so that's it for a while. Plus posi? Rear discs? Bigger brakes? Is there ever an end? Or is it just when the money runs out?

Re: Goals For Your Car Next Year?
Next year? As in 2012? I'll be aiming for 550+ RWHP or whatever this Vortech can handle, on the Mustang that is, with a forged 5.0 stroker short block. As for the IROC, I might throw an L98 into it just to get it running again.
Should be fun.

I like this thread. I'm not sure if the roundup had anything to do with Mancha starting it, but I know it will be cool seeing changes and improvements in cars every year. Hopefully this time next year my car will be something I can be really proud of, not just "good for a V6 car"

Oh trust me that is definitely on the list. But the broke college student budget don't allow for it. And honestly I would rather have all the other things right first. Brakes suck, front end needs everything but struts, just make sure it drives as good as new or better before I let loose with some power. Crazy I know, but thats the plan for now.

Damn, that is nice..... Any idea how much more performance you get out one of those bad boys?
Nevermind just checked 30-40 more hp.....wow! That + some headers and you got yourself pretty nice power increase. Even with a crappy little 305 like the one I have.

Re: Goals For Your Car Next Year?
I wouldn't mind a twin turbo L98 with a Stealth Ram and some AFR heads.
It'd be neat to do an N/A build to see what I could get out of one, but I like streetable, big power. So forced induction is where I'll end up probably 90% of the time.
Nothing is better IMO than running stock cams, stock heads, have it run like stock, yet have some respectable power. With the Mustang, I'm going to try to achieve 400 RWHP before I go with blower cams or port the heads. I'd probably be able to do it with a nice front mount intercooler setup and some long tubes, even with the stock 3.6" Vortech pulley.

400 is a killer deal. I cant seem to find any for less than a grand, motor only. Of course I haven't looked all that much lately. More than likely I'll have to wait to finish school and start working again before I get serious about an LS swap. Come on future, hurry up and get here!

i'm not going the stealth ram way.. I don't really like the look of them and i think they are a little harder to "clean" up than the regular tpi and runners... You can hide more stuff with that 3 inch gap underneath the stock plenum.. With the stealth i could see my wiring hanging all over the place which i hate.. I think it should work and not be seen...

Goal to get done (in order):
TH400 (current 400 tranny is fried) to 700R4 swap
Carb replace or rebuild
Refinish/paint wheels
New tires
Drum to disc brake swap
Lowering
(but will likely combine the last 2 together)

Re: Goals For Your Car Next Year?
One92,
Your going to be driving a completly different car next yr....LS Engine, new rear end prob new brakes too.
It will be interesting to see.
Drewscam,
I love the way the stealth ram looks but it's way to expensive for me! The holly is somewhere around $2,500. I'll probably won't do anything to my engine/transmission. It cost more money to go fast than look good...... If anything I will try to get a full borla exhaust+some headers b4 the next meet but we are talking over a grand just in that, so its prob. not gonna happen.
