I still have no idea what was wrong with it. I asked my uncle if it did it when he drove it and he said it comes and goes. He said that it had to do with moister in the combustion chamber. I'm not sure how moister would have that kinda of affect on combustion, but it did occur the day after it rained. My car was under cover, but the humidity was obviously very high.

Is there anything happening in the Charleston area? Club meets or people getting together? I have two Parts cars (83ta, 91 formula) & am working on putting an 87 trans am together.
I live in Goose Creek.

South Carolina 3rd genner here as well, from Summerville.
Also a member of SCFYB in the Lowcountry chapter.
Tranny - If you're in the Charleston area, the SCFYB meets every 1st & 3rd Saturday on Rivers Ave at the Old Sams in Aviation Square around 5:30-6p.

well thats just it with the strictly gm club, SCFYB is already that for the most part. Like i said im more into the camaros and birdys than anything so i'd have to say no to that one, since im already in it and all.
I jsut dont get it, you got mustang clubs everywhere. No camaro ones though hardly. go fish.
I'd replace that Thorttle body first and see if that does the trick.
as far as sumter is concerned. We do shows a lot in columbia, but mostly towards end of winter is when it picks up. As for cruises and waht not, every friday and saturday night theres alot of folks out at Harbison (columbiana mall) behind the sonic. Folks hang out, and some even schedule races..
hope that helps.

Hey not too far from Sumter here too. There are quite a few things around here starting in the spring. Not exclusively third gen though. Keep an eye out for flyers at the parts places. Charlie at Car Quest on 441 usually has an idea of what is going on. Catch ya later.
Thanks, Martin

Yeah man SHAW! See quite a few nice third gens running around here. No third gen club that I know of around here though. Hopefully people will post here if they know of upcoming shows or meets.

Well, thanks to Benm109 and his expertise my idling problem is fixed. The problem was a burnt fuel pump. I would have never thought that was the problem. Ben hooked up his fuel pressure guage and it read 5-6 PSI. The car would idle from 2500 to 1000 for about 30 seconds and then cut off. Ben and I ran a few test and the last test suprised us.
Ben, I started tearing it down after I took you home. I dropped everything like you said but the driveshaft and the trailing arms. Everything went fairly smooth until it was time to drop the tank. We managed to bend the filler neck a little but it was no big deal.
Thanks alot for your help.

It really wasnt as hard as most people make it out to be. I would never cut an access hole in my floor. I tore it down Saturday night and put it back together Sunday morning b/c if I didnt I knew it would end up getting on my nerves.
The real "good job" goes to Benm109. Without his fuel pressure guage I would have never figured it out.

wow.. sounds like a great idea.. helping each other is a great idea, I wish i could have helped.
I like the idea though of meeting and helping and hanging out and what not.
I agree it is all about helping each other out though.
I wish my vert was getting a new paint job.. that would rock.

Don't mention paint jobs around me. My camaro has a severe case of clear coat acne but too much mechanical stuff keeps coming up to fix and upgrade.

Yeah, Fat Boys! I'll be there! Remind me in April when it starts. Maybe we can get a couple third gens there. I haven't been but I hear it is a good turnout.
Thanks, Martin

I have NC in my description, but that's because I have a NC address, I actually live in Pageland and my '88 is a SC tagged car. Here's a pic.
