PLEASE HELP! diagnose my 89 GTA
PLEASE HELP! diagnose my 89 GTA
my GTA w/ 350 TPI has been having this issue for about a year now. it happened before deployment (im in the air force) and i just got back and am ready to work more to figure this out.
It will not stay idling. i have to keep giving it gas to keep it idling, and when i do give it gas it stumbles a bit. last year i replaced the injectors with south bay 22# ones which fixed its initial problem, ran great for about a week, then back to the bullshit.
in addition to the brand new injectors, its got a new fuel filter, IAC valve, o2 sensor, dist cap/rotor, and TPS. unplugged the MAF and it runs worse with it unplugged. i replaced all of these at the same time as the injectors and as i said it ran great for about a week. i was driving (giving it a little hell admittedly) and it pretty much fell on its face and i barely made it home, and it hasnt moved since.
after filming this video it did smell of fuel in my garage pretty strongly.
is anyone on here located in south dakota? would love someone to personally check it out. im getting real sick of this ****.

I think you new injectors are not properly seated in the fuel rails and leaking. Probably damaged o rings during install ( I did that before)

If there arent any codes present get a fuel pressure gauge on it and see what its reading. The rubber diaphragm in the fuel pressure regulators do deteriorate causing a very inconsistent fuel pressure. Also a fuel pump could cause inconsistent pressure.

Re: PLEASE HELP! diagnose my 89 GTA
In the video I hear a ticking sound, I assume it's not a loose rocker, if your garage is dark with the lights off, close all doors (cover windows if any) open hood and start car have someone look for arching around coil, distributor, and wires down to spark plug. if it's not an arching issue, need to determine what is making the ticking sound and fix before continuing with diagnostics. I heard say exhaust can make that sound, but I've never witnessed it myself.
