GA F-Body Gathering 9 Who's in?

Ok so its getting about that time. The Gathering 9 will be taking place May 27-29 at the Marriot at the juncture of I-75/I-285 off Windy Hill Rd (in Marietta). We had a great turn out last year, and I got to meet quite a few fellow TGO members. Definately hoping to meet some more this year. If anyone plans on attending or has an questions about the meet, please post up!

Heres just a few highlights from last year

Ahhh so I guess you bought 9T1Z's car, I saw it for sale, and wondered if someone bought it or he decided to keep it. Where you there with a car last year? I'm assuming your with the B'Ham fbody crew as well?

Brian got in a financial bind where he was going to be forced to put the car on E-bay....since we know each other fairly well and he knows I love these cars, he emailed me and offered me a hell of a deal just to keep the car out of the hands of the general public (he didn't want some punk giving her the Uncle Ben's treatment, or a taste of a ditch or something.) I couldn't turn him down, so I talked my wife into the car.

We are with the BFBA, and we were there last year. I don't think I talked to you but I did check your car out. I had the slightly beat-up looking teal '91 RS with the 355/T56 setup, and my wife drives a pewter '00Z that's nearly stock. This will be my fourth Gathering and her third.

Redcamaro you should go. My teal car looks crappy compared to these, but I still bring her. As long as you love the cars, you'll be welcomed.

how much is the dyno? i'd like to come, but the car is no trailer queen or really any kind of show worthy. but i'd like to come up and check it out, and if they have a dyno there, i'd really like to make some runs!

They had a mobile dyno out there one year, sitting in the lot at the car show (this was 4 years ago I believe.) Last year I think one of the local shops did $50 for 3 pulls all weekend.

Even if there was no official dyno event planned, someone would get a group together to go. When you have 400 F-body's together SOMEONE will find a dyno.

I think $50.00 show special 3 pulls! That is what is was in the past! The show is less about being show worthy, just everyone getting together...the ACFA, my club has a road ralley for people on Sunday even.

I will be there for sure...hopefully with some nice fresh paint under the hood. Maybe with a new surprise performance goodie! (Fingers crossed and praying!)

I think that Triad F-body is gonna try and make an appearance. At the moment there are 2 of us, but then again we just posted it. I'd like to see 10 of us. Heck, maybe more!

So you are coming? Cool! Maybe we should designate a time and all meet up somewhere at the show. Its usually so hit or miss to actually meet up with anybody! I'm usually pretty easy to find...just buy my car frantically cleaning till its judged! Kind of an obsession of mine! Seems at teh show is the only time I get and real quality clean time available! Usually its the engein bay what keeps my attention! But hopefully if all goes according to plan, that will not be the case this year!

I've been so busy coordinating events for Triad F-Body that I haven't really had time to keep up with the big regional events. I just noticed G9 the other day. Yes, so far the plan is that both myself and at least one other good friend of mine will be going, although we're not 100% yet. We're going to talk about it a bit tonight at the club cruise in and see who else is interested. If a bunch of us go, then I won't miss it. If it's only a few of us, I'll still probably go, but can't be sure.

To be honest, weekends without shows and without wrenching on the Iroc are few and far between. I'd really like to go to G9 though.

Abubaca you better make it out this year! There are always big crews from Florida and Alabama clubs, it would be great to add some more out of towners. I'm down for meeting up, I'll probably have a good bit of cleaning in the morning but whenever! I'll probably park up near the ACFA this year anyways. Pretty easy to spot, really blonde hair, big earrings, and a red beard; of course Shannon is easy to spot in her engine bay

I might just show up. Depending on if my engine, tranny, & rear end are done.

My car won't be no show queen but according to the events schedule, they have a dyno on site & I'd love to know when my car will do.

Well I'm swapping a freshly-powdercoated intake into the white car tomorrow. The '00Z is ready except for washing and a fresh coat of Zaino, but I dunno if the RS is gonna make it. My pet project for the summer isn't working out quite like it should so the car is not currently driveable.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the RS making it though.

Well with the gafba shootout behind me I can hopefully begin to take the car apart...I want to get the bay painted gloss black before the Gathering. Will be tight time wise... If i can pull it off it should be sweet. Planning to go thru the snake called GM's wiring and add some length in places, so we can reroute the wiring so it is less visable...same for the vacuum lines. Got to get a wiring harness from the junkyard to have the extra lengths in the right colors! It will be so nice to get rid of that rat's nest in the bay. Get it all run out of sight! Then I can eliminate so much more of the wire loom that is nothing but a dirt trap and eyesore! Only prob with the plan is the compressor we were going to use for painting died the other week. So now I have to buy a new compressor to top it all off! UGH!

Ok never mind all this...change in plans...since the compressor is dead and there are a few things that I wanted to do before the engine bays gets painted...like a tubular cross mamber...

We have decided instead to go ahead with the bigger performance upgrades first! Heck doing the performance will work out great since there will be a chance to dyno the car...see what the new stuff does for me! Then if everything is satisfactory, then we will go ahead with the painting after Super Chevy in Atl!

25-30 miles tops I think. Take 124 to 78w, then go N on 285 and get off at 75N. The show is at the Windy Hill Rd exit, just north of the 285 exit.

I'll be there again. The car is actually in one piece this year. I was hoping to have the wheel and brake combo on there, but finances dictate otherwise.

Still looks a lot better than last year.

Does anybody know, if I wanted to park the car on one of the levels, do I have to pay? There's always a few spaces not being used.

I think you do have to pay to park with the show cars...not sure how much...Joe tried to park with the rest of our club last year and they ran him off cause he did not have a G8 sticker!

Yeah they're getting more picky about registering your car. If you don't register you don't get the decal, and if you don't get the decal you're not supposed to park in the "G9" part of the lot. You can still cruise through, and the only thing they'll do if they catch you is run you off to the other part of the lot.

If my RS isn't ready for the trip I'll donate my parking decal, since I paid for it already anyway. You just have to park with the BFBA and pretend to be me.

Hopefully she'll make it though....I just need to get this erratic idle timing issue straightened out, do a little tuning on the timing curves, and throw my new strut mounts in. The other two cars are ready to go, save washing and waxing.

Speaking of tuning. . . . . . I should have my PROMinator by then and could use your help.

Not a problem. Just track me down when you get there....we'll probably roll in late Friday afternoon and leave Sunday around lunch.

I haven't played with a Prominator yet....should be fun. I hear only good things about them.

Hopefully she'll make it though....I just need to get this erratic idle timing issue straightened out, do a little tuning on the timing curves, and throw my new strut mounts in. The other two cars are ready to go, save washing and waxing.
Are you bringing the RS or do you have that extra sticker?

Man it sucks...the exhaust shop had the car so long I missed my deadline to get the heads in for work to get them back before the gathering! And my custom intake is not here yet!

Though exhaust is done...tips wrong though! He spaced them out way too far...hope I can get by before gathering to get fixed! Sounds incredible though! The 3in sys really drops the low notes! Can't wait to play on the dyno and see what numbers I get now! Also the chip is in, so that should iron out the mess I have w/o programing... see what numbers that produces!

Unless something nasty happens, it's going. I have the timing ironed out to the point that I can drive it and not fear for my ring landings, but I haven't lined her up yet and the other two cars STILL need waxed. Tomorrow is waxing day....my arms are gonna be SOOO sore.

No. As I put in another thread, there was a PayPal snafu when I ordered it; and while it was being hashed out, I spoke with Alvin from PCMforless and was pretty impressed with his history. I head up to Charlotte tomorrow morning for some dyno tuning.

It will only cost me about $100 more for the whole ordeal than buying a PROMinator, and with no learning curve.

Yeah, I know I scammed my way out of the DIY PROM stuff.

And with no option to make changes on your own in the future....

Ah well, to each his own. Alvin does good work.

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. I'll be there Friday night for sure and if the turnout is good, I'll be there on Saturday as well.

The parking lot layout is now online. click here

Gunny we'll be rolling in late Friday afternoon. The convoy should be fairly obvious (expecting about 15 cars.) Look for me!

Yeah, I'll actually wash and wax the car tomorrow. I've never been there on a Friday, how's the crowd and when do they show up? I'm bringing a buddy, so I don't want to disappoint him.
