Going to Bowling Green F-body invasion this month.
Leaving the Tri-Cities around 5-5:30ish on Friday of the event.
Feel free to tag-along with a couple of us third-gens.

Yeah thats the place. I was thinking the same thing. Lets see, gas is about 3.10 a gal. I get 22 mpg. Thats almost 15 gallons, one way. Thats almost 100 bucks in gas. Im out. Let me know when something closer comes up. Thanks for the invite though. I used to go to Bowling Green when I was stationed at Ft Campbell. Nice track. And I missed the super chevy show.

Gray is just north of Johnson City (west on I26 towards Kingsport).
The Gathering in Atlanta in May and the F-Body invasion in Bowling Green in September are the closest F-Body events we have. Atleast that I know of. Both are a really good time. Just need more third-gens.
Me and my friend meet up with a couple other third-genners from Alabama and have a blast. Worth the drive. And the gas prices really suck.

I would really love to go, but going to college and only working 10-15 hours a week leaves not much $$$.

How about we have our own Third Gen get together. Somewhere close. It may not be as big, but it doesn't have to be. Plus, Johnson City is pretty close for everyone. It'd be nice to meet some other Third Gen enthusiasts. And I'm sure we could get some other local F-body owners from camaroz28.com to come, if we wanted some other body styles. Lemme know what you guys think.

Sounds good to me. Wish we had a F-body club around here.
I usually try to go to the srteet fights.
Most of the time I take the '94, but the '91 has made a few appearances. The little 305 w/ auto is not as fun.

Tell me about it. I would like to go to the street fights, but Im afraid all the trash talk would **** me off. I also have a wife and three kids, so its not that easy to get out. However, you guys come up with a meeting place and time, And Ill try to make it. Maybe we could all make it to the track on a street fight night. As for clubs, Im not into all the sticker pimpin' in the back window crap. I will hang with friends any day though. Let me know. I work at the airport, so Im almost in Johnson city everyday. As long as you guys dont mind a fairly worn out '91 hangin around.

Not saying that the 305 is not fun, just not AS fun!
Never heard any trash talk up there.
Just having fun.
My 305 even got beat with a Saturn that had a fart can. Twice!
No sticker crap on my cars either.
Be glad to meet up though.
We could pick a restaurant and meet.
Just sit and BS. Even have a brew if everone is old enough.
Me and a fellow third-genner go to Johnny Bruscoe's in JC alot.
Good place to hang.

We could meet at a restaraunt, then go to the street fights. Anybody got a date in mind? I need a little notice, with three kids and all. When does the track close for the year? Any other ideas, lets get a time to meet, if you guys are cool with that. I dont care if we meet at a fast food rest. As long as its not McDonalds. I eat there 4 days a week it seems like.

I plan on going to the street fights right after work on the 6th and 8th. Working days this week and having to work over on Wed. Not too sure about monday. Depending on how late we stay at the track, we usually go grab a brew after a few runs. We try to get there right after the gates open.
Got out of working tomorrow. Thought about going to Elizabethton since I have not been since I sold the old '64 Impala SS.

I'd love to go to the Street fights, but I work 5-10 Tuesday- Thursday. I am going to the Car Show in down town Elizabethton the 3rd (tomorrow). If anybody wants to go, let me know and I will meet you.

I will ask off for the next Street Fights, I will ask off in advance.

I'm going to try to get caught up on a few things around the house.
I may try to go to Elizabethton.
I usually just go to Ingle's instead of downtown.

Went to Elizabethton for a while tonight. Did not realize that nobody hung out at Ingles anymore. (thought they still did both)
Hung out downtown for a while, until my 3 year old daughter decided she had enough.
Maybe catch you at the street fights.
Will be in a green '94 Z28.

Going to try to get there between 5-5:30ish. Look for a green '94 Z28 (sorry no third gen planned for that night). If my friends go, they will be in a black '91 RS and a red '04 GTO. Between runs, we hang out along the fence near the traps.

I can't go to the Street Fights, but I am free Monday. I went to the car show and I didn't realize they didn't go to Ingles either. I was at the car show, and I saw a particular maroon Z28, but never found it after I saw it go through town. Sorry . Maybe next week. I should park in town with the rest of the cars next time to make it easier to find. It is just a rarety to see any Third Gens.

My brakes are acting up, too. The right rear drum is really squeaky and it catchs alot harder than the others and locks up if I go down a hill and hit them. I think the spring that holds the pads apart is getting weak because there is more wear on that side.

I hate brakes. Anything more extensive than pads and rotorsI ussuakly take it to the mechanic. I am getting rear disks soon. Complete rear end with 3.23 pos and disks.

Catfootball, you getting any brake fluid to the rear?
Tried to bleed them?
Maybe the master cylinder is gome or considering the age of our cars, the rear hose may have broken down internally and is stoppong any fluid from flowing to the rear cylinders.

TPI, yours sounds like you wheel cylinders may be bad. My old '64 would try to lock up a brake or two and I found my wheel cylinders weeping.

Drum brakes are intimidating until you have worked with them a few times. I used to never touch them, but after I have fooled with them a few times, I'm not too afraid to tackle them now.

Just a few thoughts. Hope I did not confuse you problems!

Wheel cylinders? I think someone else mentioned that. I will have to look into it. I was hoping to get the money for a new posi-trac rear with disks before it got bad enough to have to repair the drums, but it don't look that way. I was going to drive to get it (to avoid the 150 shipping), but then gas shot up .60 cents a gallon. Oh, well. I'll get it sooner or later. Thanks for the advice, though. That will come in handy.

Rear wheel cylinder are CHEAP.
I paid $16 for both at CarQuest.
I used to work there and still get hooked up on parts.
They will probably be around $20 at Advance.
I know where a posi/ disk brake rear is in JC.
If I remember it needs an axle.
Thinking it may be a 3:23.
The guy is parting out a 5.7 Iroc.
He is keeping the motor and trans.
Have not seen the car, but he says it has a great interior (tan).
Going to go rob a few parts off of it in the next week or so.

Hey, if you don't want it (and don't mind doing it), get me a price on that rear and if you are there, take a look. Or you can shoot me the address, and I will go take a look for myself.

And how hard (and expensive) will replacing the axle be?
Thanks, again.

Yeah, if we go next week, I can go, too. I work Tuesday/Thursday 5-10 this week. Let me know what day, and I will ask off for it.

The axles out of you rear you have may work.
I'm not sure.
Other than changing fluid, I do not have any experience with rear ends or trannys.
The axles are held in by c-clips, and should not be too hard to swap.
(I think).
I may try to go look tomorrow morning.
I keep telling him I am going to stop by and don't get the chance.

Had a good time.
Met drummerdad.
'94 Lt1 still not running what I think it should but oh well.
Plan on going again on thursday with drag radials on.
Next week can't make it.
Have a prior commitment on tuesday.
Leaving for Bowling Green friday morning.
(assuming they are doing it again both days)

Checked the rear on the wrecked '89 Iroc.
Axle is bent but we are pretty sure the rest is ok.
He can't sell it until he starts to strip things down. Has to be able to move it.
VERY nice interior, tan cloth.
He will price it right.
Also has BOSE rear speaker set up.
