Florida Panhandle! Who's here?

How many FL panhandlers do we have here? I'm in the Destin area with a white 91.

I'd like to see how many people are here and maybe we can do a get together. Also, the Camaro 5 guys have monthly events in the area. It'd be awesome to get the third gens out and represented in the NW FL area!

Re: Florida Panhandle! Who's here?

Camaro 5 is the fifth gen 2010 Camaro; they did a meet with about 40 cars in Destin a month ago. They had a few 1st gens but no 3rd gen f-bodies (the best generation) represented. Their website is camaro5.com

a white 91..nice, keeping the car on a down low I see. Love to check it out. PM anytime. Have a lot of free time early next year. I'm with some family(thirdgen owners) around here and slightly west of here. I'm a fan of all gens but like the diverse and devoted third crowd the most. I'll attempt to let you know next time we congregate in pensacola.

Re: Florida Panhandle! Who's here?

Panama City here.. third gen action on the gulf coast is just about non-existent it seems... at least over towards PC. I didn't realize Camaro 5 had another meet last month. That's about as close as I can get to third gen company around here and Gen-5 guys generally seem a bit 'corvettish' towards other gen owners

Re: Florida Panhandle! Who's here?

Is Camaro-5 the group I saw at Longhorn down at pier park one weekend? I saw a ton of 5th gen's, like 1 4th gen and a 1st. I'm always having cookouts and what not at my place, maybe we should get a meet together some time.

Re: Florida Panhandle! Who's here?

Yep they meet up at Pier Park sometimes. I've been to a couple of their cruises, one from PC to I-10 and another over in destin this past summer. The last one I was going to go to was supposed to be at Pier Park but for some reason it didn't happen. Biggest problem with going to those is it makes me realize how bad I need to paint my Iroc :-)

Do you go to any of the 'every weekend' car club car shows in PC? I'm not a club member anywhere but I try to be in one of those on occasion.

I don't know where any of them are at. We moved here in April and I haven't ran into any car shows, probably because I live out off 231.

Oh yeah, every weekend from March thru November the local car club coalition puts one on. Check http://www.bcfour.com/bc4-calendar.htm for locations.

Sort of... I used to have a C6 Z06 before my third gen. Corvette guys were open to all generations of 'vettes but not so to other cars. I've noticed gen-5 Camaro guys think there are only two types of Camaros - gen-5s and 69s... which is why we need to enlighten them!

Re: Florida Panhandle! Who's here?

I might get up with you RamAir, but I won't be much help at the moment. Having some back issues and even just standing around for a while is enough to get me hurting. If you want, PM me your number.

A meet in Destin sounds like a plan. I'm good for whenever, only takes me an hour to get there. I was going to be doing my engine build starting this month but my back problem has paused my plans for now.

That'd be great, or Ft. Walton, or maybe Sandestin. Maybe find a place to park and eat or something...

Several cruises I've been on have met up at johnnyoquigleys.com‎ in Destin. Pretty decent food and meeting place. He loves cars cruising in as well as it seems to bring in other business. It's in the Best Buy parking lot.

Re: Florida Panhandle! Who's here?

Any weekend is good for me. I don't even mind driving in the rain but I don't do cold weather very well! As long as it's gonna get up into the 50's I'm good. Weather looks like 56 deg & partly cloudy this Saturday. Showers on Sunday. I'll give you a call this week Brian.

I would think meeting up ahead of lunch but not too early would give everyone time to get there and an excuse to eat after hanging out a while.

Re: Florida Panhandle! Who's here?

Are there any good cruise/driving roads in the area? Something with some twists and turns, or maybe some scenic views? It's possible to always meet in a spot, cruise a small bit, and then park and eat.

I know the 5th Gen Camaro guys are planning another get-together in the Destin area and they're open to all generations. Their last meet had about 30 5th Gens and a handful of 1st and 4th gens.

Re: Florida Panhandle! Who's here?

Would make the drive easily for this meet of y'all's that seems to be brewing, but this weekend my group and I have one going already Sun at 1 at the Bass Pro Shops Spanish Fort, AL which just in case you're wondering is only a little over 2 hours from Destin area

Also need to give a shout out to fellow third gen guy Allan who spared my car from his towtruck last weekend in Destin. Didn't get your TGO screen name. Hope to run into you on better circumstances next time.

Re: Florida Panhandle! Who's here?

Well looks like this weekend is a no go. Maybe try again in the next weekend or two if the weather forecast looks good. Next weekend looks warm so far. I guess I don't mind, cold weather means my car is a lot more fun to drive, warm weather is better for getting out of the car. I just don't stand around in 40 degree weather. I'll be in the car with the heater LOL

Also need to give a shout out to fellow third gen guy Allan who spared my car from his towtruck last weekend in Destin. Didn't get your TGO screen name. Hope to run into you on better circumstances next time.
Allen has two firebirds, one is stupid fast.....well over 500hp

Its a black formy with no hood, if you guys ever see it out and about. Allen and roy james towing both have thirdgens and do an awesome job of taking care of me if myself or any of my friends break down.

Re: Florida Panhandle! Who's here?

I am a little farther away than most of you guys. I am in Tallahassee. I used to go over that way for shows all the time, but haven't in a couple of years. I have a bright red '92 305 that I use mostly for car shows nowadays. Nice to see some 3rd Gen action in the panhandle for a change. Let me know if you ever plan a big get together.

LOL Travis... yes I am. And to think, this whole turbo Iroc project was supposed to slow my aging process.

Good to meet you too RamAirZ. Glad you got it running. Now it's time to head to Breakaway!

Re: Florida Panhandle! Who's here?

Anyone want to try going to the dragstrip over here in PC on Sunday the 16th? Brian (92firebird 305) said he might be over this way that day and I'm sure we could talk RamAirZ into going. Breakaway is open for test & tune at noon (runs start at 1pm). If not this weekend, they'll be open every sunday for the rest of the year.

The bunch of guys thing not likely. I'm out of the business of generating/prodding/giving a **** if leeches show or don't. He thinks there was an OS error when I reloaded HPT, so we shall see, as I'm out the door now to test this theory.

<- Me doubtful
