The wrecks today have been horrible, along with all this rain, it got worse with a 3 car wreck on Hwy 98, and the TA has been going this fast for the last 20 mins. Im pretty ready for the meet guys, even though im not missing alabama at all since i did almost 40 hours of work over there in a 3 day period.

Hair dryers work good to, they don't get overly hot and are cheap, I use one in my garage a lot

the miles dont show for it unfortunately, i went through 2 and half years i suppose working out the bugs and kinks outta the motor and transmission. The body needs attention now. It will eventually been finished, if you went through the pictures down the 1st page 1st post the black TA you can definitely tell what i mean.

Re: Sept 11, Noon, TGO Meet Battleship Mobile, AL (Gulf Coast)
The problems continue. I got around the cam issue, but after getting the engine in the car I started wondering about my head gaskets. Something didn't seem 'right' about them. After researching my order sheet, I realized the ones I got are for Brodix heads ONLY. So I just destroyed $225 and a half day of work that I spent perefectly torquing the heads and adjusting the rocker arms. Plus now I have to spend another chunk of change for new gaskets.
This is probably the straw the broke the Mobile Trip Camel's back for me. I've tried valiantly to get around the various issues, but this is major. All work is on hold until I can get the heads back on. The only possible way this is going to happen is that I find some .041 or thicker gaskets tomorrow. Not likely.

i'm possibly meeting up with some guys locally in Crestview (time and location have yet to be worked). Then heading to Pensacola were we are to rendezvous with another group possibly the kids? Then on to the battle ship. guess if i miss the one or fail to get directions i'll plan to meet up at the Pensacola location.

Pick a gas station at the Crestview exit we leave at 10 then go to the Nine Mile exit to meet the Pensicola people, leave there at 11. Is there anyone between Pcola and Mobile that wants to ride along?

I believe anybody north of pensacola is probably just going to meet in mobile, could be wrong though only other exit on I10 leaving pensacola is the wilcox exit by styx river gun range, then its basically only spanish fort, and daphne then its only like another 8 to 10 miles to mobile.

Re: Sept 11, Noon, TGO Meet Battleship Mobile, AL (Gulf Coast)
if your looking for a gas station in crestview the cheapest one close to I-10 is the Citgo (Tom Thumb) south of I-10 at the intersection of John King and Highway 85. it's right across from the Arby's and right next to La Rumba, and the motel 6 (well there good will between them but it doesn't count). i can meet at the gas station, wendy's, or where ever just let me know.

I haven't come up with a better location for the convoy than I previously detailed on post #44 on page 1.
Starbucks. 2200 W Nine Mile Rd . Exit 7 Pine Forest Rd (297). Head north for approx 3 tenths of a mile. You 'll see it to your left as you cross over Nine mile Rd. 1030-1115. Safe travels y'all.

Current Iroc status is no heads on the car. I'm taking off the next two days to try and get it together for the meet. Looks like we have about a 50% chance of a tropical system affecting the area by Sunday though. :-/

Considering the last one had 3-4 inches of standing water in the roads near me, my car is probably better off on I-10... the garage is safe but I'm definitely working on a hurricane plan for the car.

the 30% chance of rain also means 70% no rain!
The chance of rain goes down to 20% during the evening.

I have learned from living in Wisconsin If it says 20% chance and you have something to do its going to rain all day if you have 70% chance of rain and plan to do nothing it will be cloudy and no rain. I Have such a long drive to Mobile and would hate for people not to come because of rain.

Re: Sept 11, Noon, TGO Meet Battleship Mobile, AL (Gulf Coast)
It doesn't look good. I started it tonight but that was after putting 14 hours into it today (including lunch break and store runs). Every time we walked into a store, they didn't have the part we needed. Lunch total was $16.66. The new engine & head combo has the exhaust manifolds 1/4" further apart than the previous setup which has screwed with us all day. My MSD quit working. While diagnosing that, Tuner Studio had a forced update and now will no longer communicate with the Megasquirt. So bottom line is:
Unable to tune
Exhaust leak (crossover pipe - may be able to work on that a bit)
No MSD box = no go with more than 6 psi
Still haven't finished the cooling hoses yet
I'm not really happy with how the engine sounds either. It just doesn't feel right somehow. You can just tell with a small block. Could be the exhaust leaks and probably lean. Hoping to get these resolved in the morning but I only have until noon to get it all solved. Not likely at this point.
