This board is a little too quiet......

I have a hard time understanding why this board is so quiet. There are tons of third gen F bodies out there and these days almost everyone has access to a computer, so whats up? I have only a few hours of time a day(sometimes less) and yet, sometimes I feel that I am posting on this board more than anyone else!!! I do see birdtojag and 92whitez28 a lot but wheres everyone else?

I understand how you feel. Sometimes it seems like all this board is is a running classified ad. The only reason some of us come on here is to either sell something or buy something. I just kind of gave up after awhile.

Re: This board is a little too quiet......

No kidding 1,400+ posts!!! I have been a member for 14 days so I guess averaging 2 a day when I work 14 hour days and drive 85 miles round trip isnt too bad. Right? I mean I like being able to use it like a classified ad, after all if u are selling camaro parts, at least u are talking to the right group in the right area of the u.s. I go to the drivetrain section a lot myself and have been getting some parts from MO., N.J. and other places very far east of here. I would, however rather drive to Tempe or Mesa to check out a part and meet the person selling this stuff and see his (or her) car. I am a car nut, what can I say?
Jason.

well im tempted to print up some TGO cards and start slappin them on all the 3rd gens i find, maybe that'll wake up this board a bit i mean today i saw 3 birds ALL in QC, 2 of them were GTA's and they're parked about a mile form where i work, then i saw a red one cruisin around too, guessin his lights were broken cuz they wouldnt lower. Not to mention theyres another red one off of ocotillo normally parked in this guys front yard. Its amazing how many i see on a daily basis but i dont think they have even heard of TGO

Well, it perpetually runs rich, which I think I've got nailed down now that I have a datalogging setup, there's the crushed in driver fender that I have a replacement for that I just need to prime and put on, but sanding sucks. Then there's the dented hood >.< (and neither of those were my fault!) then there's the hole in the front bumper cover from when I rearended a tow hitch. And then when the carpet caught fire while welding on subframe connectors....

The list goes on. >.<

Damn Tyler, that sucks. If you need a new hood you can have my old black hood for free if you can come get it.

Re: This board is a little too quiet......

Was that black hood an IROC hood? I don't even remember. It's been so long since we all had that get together. But yea, my car has no passenger interior anymore, and the cargo needs to go. I kinda like the console-less look though.

How's that EBL Flash working for ya? I just got one of Moate's ALDU1 and CABL1 setups. Showed me that my TPS is off.

Whenever I get money though, I'm gonna have to go opposite of you Robert. Prolly gonna use second skin on my interior, replace jute padding with their luxury liner, add lots of weight to make the car luxury car quiet. Only to build an exhaust that I can hear while in the car. >.>

Re: This board is a little too quiet......

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole tuning thing. It boggles my mind as to how much of a learning curve it is. The EBL Flash is great as far as where I'm at in my tuning experience. I was thinking about putting the stock computer with the TBIchips chip back in until I get a wideband so it will be easier. The hood is just a plain jane RS hood. I took it off after I got my SMC hood from Preist1981 here on the boards last year. i really need to get hood pins on it though, sometimes it feels like the damn thing is going to fly off if I'm going fast enough.

Re: This board is a little too quiet......

Hey, if the issue I have of Camaro Performers is typical, get hood pins on that thing! The picture is of their thirdgen project with the hood sitting thirty feet behind it on the dragstrip. :O

Once you start doing it it's really not all that difficult. I mean, ****, before you started working on cars that learning curve looked pretty impressive, didn't it? :P Now it's like, "So? I can change a radiator. Can't you?" I never understand my friends who are impressed by me working on my car.

Does EBL Flash let you make on-the-fly changes like running emulation on my 165 or a 730 ECM would? Looking through the list it seemed like only TBI ECM's were supported. I got my chip burner already, I'm just gonna shell out for Moates' adapter board with ZIF and two chips. Then I'll have everything I need to begin tinkering. Prolly gonna update to $6E and delete the 9th injector. Ah. So much work to do. I still need to get those LS1 fans and the serpentine setup in. >.<

Re: This board is a little too quiet......

Yes It lets you completely tune on the fly, you don't even have to shut the car off. It really saved me slot off money by going this route, it pretty much is a self contained unit for emulation, datalogging and flashing. no chip required. All I need to complete the package is a wideband. I'm going to get a ZT-2 Zeitronix set up. I hear it's one of the best.

Re: This board is a little too quiet......

My buddy is running the Zeitronix setup in his Mk III Supra. Good wideband.

Ultimately, mine's not too costly either. $80 for the ALDL cable, $75 total for chips, adapter, and programmer. Tuner Pro which is free. :3 I'd love to do emulation, but I can't see paying for that privilege on my budget.

When you gonna drop a 350 in place of your 305? :P Remember that saying about displacement and replacement. >.>

Re: This board is a little too quiet......

I'm not quite bored with the 305 yet. I still feel like playing with it for awhile. Plus with the price of gas these days I might just keep it. With the EBL when I was doing a VElearn it said I was getting 23 miles to the gallon IN TOWN. so I still think she's doing pretty good. On the other hand I am in the process of finally putting my 350 together. I still don't know whether I want to do a 355 or a 383 because it needs a .030 bored due to some rusting on the cylinder walls and it needs an aline hone due to one of the main got alittle hot. I have one of my sets of Vortecs ported and polished, I'm doing the work myself to save alittle money (you know sureways and TNT's prices) I have a couple sets of screw in studs I'm going to have put in them for extra security. With a ZZ4 cam, a set of ported vortecs and a matching intake should net some decent power no matter what route I take with the 350.

Re: This board is a little too quiet......

Damn straight. I can't believe the 23 in town. I get 23 highway though, and I know that's no bull. Filled the tank up completely full, drove from Tucson to Phoenix, 145 miles, filled the tank with 6.1 gallons. 23 highway is great for a V8. Around town though.... It's kind of depressing. It's been running like crud in the cold, so I'm hopping to catch that gremlin one of these mornings.

Personally I'm looking at a motorcycle to get me around while the car is otherwise incapacitated. 80mpg and $20/month insurance is NOTHING to scoff at.
