so i figured id bug the local guys here, the problem is my car wont start after driving for a few miles the other day, i left buffalo wild wings inbetween warner and ray and i didnt even make it to ray the car just died, so i pulled it home replaced the fuel pump, ignition coil module, and the coil/cap/wires are all new. I have removed the fuel line to see the gas come out but the tbi isn't spraying. In the morning im going to check to make sure i have spark and if i dont im thinking the distributor is bad. correct me if im wrong but i read somewhere that if the distributor goes bad it wont spark and the computer wont start to fire the injectors because the injectors firing is all based on timing or something, any input is appreciated..

quick update, i checked for spark from the cap and got nothing so i checked for spark from the coil and still nothing, maybe the reluctor went bad so nothing is sparking? thanks

Try the paper clip trick and get the codes. I'm thinking a VATS issue maybe.

i pulled the codes got nothin but 12's

Code 12 is "No reference pulses" it always shows up till you're either cranking the motor over or it's running.

Your motor is cranking over fine, but won't start? Does your tachometer needle register any rpm's (200 - 300) while you're cranking the motor?

If your pickup coil is bad then your ignition module won't put out any reference pulses to the ECM. No reference pulses, no spark, no injector sprays. If you've already put in a new ignition module and you don't see any rpm's during cranking, check the resistance of your pickup coil. It should be something like 800-1500 ohms if I remember right. Do a search on that just to double check. It should not be open or shorted though.

If you've got rpm during cranking, but no spark from the coil when you hold the wire near ground, check the resistances of both sides of the coil.

turns out it was the distributor, when i got it out i spun it a few times by hand until it decided it wasn't going to spin anymore guessing the bearings went out inside or something, thanks for the help guys

yea i was having some weird starting issue too, sometimes it would just make a loud click like the starter couldn't turn the flywheel but now im thinking it was the distributor not wanting to turn
