I'm here too. For all the others, I do practically anything car related. My favorite it building engines. Have most of the tools to do whatever I would need to get a car figured out and fixed (used to work for Jaguar - hence the name). My car is out of commission for a little while, but will get it on the road again when I have the time to replace my lifters.
Im Brian,
My fiance Stephanie and I own a 90 L98 Iroc. Currently in the process of sprucing it up with some new paint and some much needed TLC to the interior and engine. We would love to attend some third gen meets if there are any planned.
I'm near Tolleson. I have a 92 v6 -> v8 swapped bird waiting on funds to get a rust hole repaired. I can do quite a bit of work on a thirdgen to include engine /trans / rear-end swaps. I can also do wiring, electrical troubleshooting and ECM tuning on the MAF system (and I'm learning more now that I have a bigger cam).
Also another Brian here. Live in NE Mesa. Like doing electrical troubleshooting, drivetrain swaps, etc. Always willing to lend a hand to another third gen.
Would everyone be willing to pm a single person on the board there email, and city, state info, optional phone #? So we could organize events for our section?
Kind of a third gen Southwest Directory. Just a suggestion.
I live in mesa, not sure what to call it so ill just say off val vista and university lol ive probably seen a few members around here, i know of one guy with a 91 camaro i met at my work (QT) but i forgot his name already, apparently hes a memeber, its kinda hard to miss me with my blue 89 with 2 gray primer patches, DS rear and PS front with my TGO sticker lol oh and the open exhaust, kinda makes me a target for police
since i failed to put in what i do; MCC student for automotive, i can do just about anything like electrical troubleshooting, manual trans work (ive ripped apart and rebuilt 3 t5s so far lol) some suspension work etc, i have my hands in just about everything at this point so im pretty well rounded with these cars, plus being an MCC student i have access to the shop in the fall so no more driveway jobs
Instead of emailing we could just post our info in the thread then i can go through with excell and make a list, instead of keeping it at home we could post it here or in a new thread and maybe the mods would be nice enough to sticky it for us i also know quite a few thirdgen owners that arent on here we could add them as well
im down in tucson every so often for the trial by fire drift events lol no i dont run but my friends are avid rx7 supporters lol normally im down there playing tech for him when something breaks but next time im down that way i can give you a call

I'm Frank, some of you might know me as Frankencamaro,I live in Phoenix. I got a 85 Camaro thats being radically changed "again" in my garage. I was getting bored with it the way it was,... so I'm going for something of a Nascar look, like the 80's IROC race cars... New pic's soon of the "new" look, but here's the old version.....Let me know when the next 3rd Gen Gathering is coming up.......Frank Hosted on Fotki
What's up man!!, yes I'm the painter now at Deans......I can't wait to do a third gen get together soon....hopefully something will come together after summer...........Frank

Hey Frank, Once it cools off I going to try and host one. I will post it up on this section board. I was also thinking of a cruise to Prescott or Flag for the summer. Problem is most be people seem to have there cars in project status right now.
You heard me guys, lets get these cars running. If you need help don't be afraid to ask. And yes I will even help you if it's over 110 degrees
I'm Dave.
I'm not in the Phoenix area but in beautiful Yuma AZ. My 92 vert is in the process of a complete tear down for paint. I've had it for long time and have driven the hell out of it. Now it will get the care it deserves.
i think a cruise up north would be great, kinda going through some money troubles with my room mates and rent and such, fun stuff but id like to get back to concentrating on my car lol apparently weve got a few painters around so ill be hitting you guys up for tips in a few months, once money is straight again im painting the car after i fix the ac and finish my exhaust
maybe in a few weeks we could cruise up to flag or something, heck even payson would be fun up the beeline

My name's Gail, everyone calls me Speed though. I live in Phoenix at the moment and I'm a student. I race sportbikes at Friebird and I'm completely obsessed with my thirdgen - an 89 Firebird Formula 350. It's my 3rd firebird (had a 78 Redbird and a 92 305) and I intend on making it the best it can possibly be.
I live for cars and bikes, and I'm always down for anything third gen - meet ups, helping work on your car, whatever. Just hit me up.
Well Gail, I saw that car on craigslist. Congrats on snagging it before I could. My car is parked for now, but have some plans in mind. Will eventually be putting Vortec heads on (after valve upgrade and maybe a port and polish). Working on getting a TPI to Vortec intake at the moment. Down the road I see runners and throttle body additions. We'll have to see how money is and if I can swing these luxury items.
I'm Mike. I live in Surprise and have a '91 black TA with 305TPI. It used to be Kevin's car (bigwhitegtp) until December '06. I've been slowly working on fixing it up. But money being tight it's mostly on hold for now. The car is in good running shape though. The main thing I need to fix is the passenger window. The motor is on the way out and will overheat and shut down after a few seconds of use.

So it's in good running shape for a few seconds at a time?

Yeah, the guy sold it to me for $500... I got a great deal. Once I can get some money saved I'm going to do a full rebuild of the 350, swap out the 700r4 for a t5, full tune up, fix up the suspension, put the interior together, and get her painted. She runs and drives for now at least Let me know if you want some help with your ride.
Well I'm Robert and I live in "beautiful" Kingman. I've had my car for the last six years and counting. I plan on being in phoenix actually tomorrow for my youngest daughters doctors appointment. To bad I won't be in the Camaro I'll be in the wifes truck.

Ok I have now moved back to Surprise...I live just off Reems and Cholla. Got a garage as well...If any of you are around I could use some help with my car...still have the issue with the gauges not working and I got my T5 but haven't cut any holes for the conversion...never done it before and don't wanna screw it up....Any help would be appreciated! Also my wife is deploying to UAE at the end of next month and I want to start tearing my car down and rebuild the 305. Could use a motor stand if someones got a spare hanging around....
lol, if that is the red firebird 350 that was on craigslist a few weeks back, i offered the guy 700 and he said no :/
Well, I missed my Firebird alot, so I went and looked at this one (no intention of buying it). Then I saw what good condition it was in and freaked out - called up everyone I knew, got as much together as I could, and told him I was in. He wanted $900 for it, but the battery had a dead cell and we had trouble starting it so he said $500 and she's yours. So yeah... got my new bird for only $500. Completely straight body, no rust, dents, nothing, all original numbers, and a 350 too! Runs and drives but needs a tune up... I plan on just rebuilding her completely. Dropping in a T5 too, getting rid of the 700r4, I'm so sick of automatics.
Hey what's up everyone! My name's Joel and I live out in Buckeye. I have an 86 Firebird that's had the old 305 torn out and a 350 put into it. I've done a few things to it but right now i really need to put my front end rebuild kit on it. Seems like I buy a ton of parts but they never seem to make their way onto my car. I can work on an F-16 better than i can my own car lol. < I'm AF btw> So if anyone wants to lend a hand and wouldn't mind helping me put some of my crap on let me know!
Gail: just a fair warning t5's and 350's dont mix well unless you plan on driving it like a grandma, im taking a shot at it when i get my new motor in but ive also got a world class, not that its any better but it helps a little, the t5s cant hold up to shock loading from a 350 and they will just blow out, so clutch kicking, dumping the clutch etc wont work, youll be lookin for a new tranny fairly quick
theres mixed opinions on it from everyone here on the boards but general rule of thumb is better safe than sorry with that combo, one of my instructors at MCC (Steve Julius) worked at the proving grounds through the production of our cars and he said when they tested the t5s ability to hold up to the torque of a 350 they were good for about the first 5 minutes, keep in mind they were testing its strength so they just beat the crap out of it but overall the tests showed it would be a bad idea and theyd be pulling the t5s out alot for warranty, hence the reason youll never see a 350/T5 setup from the factory

I appreciate the advice. I would prefer to put a T56 in my bird, but I can't find one. Once I find one I'll put it in but I may just use a T5 until then. My car's gonna be a driveable project for a while, but it's not my primary mode of transportation so it's not a priority. In the end she'll have a T56 but till then Thanks for the advice tho... sincerely appreciated
Im here too my name is Alex. I am new to the boards but i have been around for a while i know alot of people aon the boards but only in person. I am really good with swaps specially auto to 5-speed swaps
just let me know what part you need help with i have done several swaps as well as my own. My number is 623-341-9680 just hit me up and i can help out. I on the west side were are you at?
I am in Surprise....I have just about everything i need with the exception of the speedo gears. I think the part i am going to need help with is the cutting for the shifter and for the clutch.

Reason: ?
The speedo gear is the same one you wont have to get a different one. And honestly it seems very hard and troublesome doing the swap but the the thing that takes the longest is switching out the pedal assembly. everything else is pretty straight forward the cutting of the hole for the hydraulic master cylinder is very crucial(if you are going to use hydraulics).
Hi everyone! My name is Rog, and I'm totally new to the board, as well as to third gen ownership. I'm in SouthEast Mesa (Southern and Greenfield) so I hope this is the right spot to introduce myself (I looked for an "Introductions" forum, but didn't see one. Sorry if I missed it).
Back in March, I picked up an 83 Camaro off of Craigslist without ever having owned a Camaro before. I've been used to just buying cheap junkers and driving them into the ground, spending half a grand every year or two to pick something else up whenever a junker finally gives up the ghost.
With this Camaro, I've decided to change my ways and actually take care of a car for once. The trouble is, I know next to nothing about cars. I've always been a computer guy, not a car guy. But I'm hoping I can learn while I work on my 'new' baby.
She's already had a 350 swap done on her, as well as custom side-venting exhaust pipes underneath her doors before I bought her. I had some trouble getting her through emissions when I first got her, but it was nothing a new cat welded in front of the muffler on each side couldn't fix. I had to learn how to weld for that, but it was worth it because she runs like a champ now.
Well, runs like a champ when she's not having idling problems anyway. But that's what I'm doing this week - learning about my carb, and what could be causing the problem at idle.
I've already hacked her hood nearly in half in order to install a custom hood scoop a buddy and I built from scratch. We got the scoop installed and it just needs to be sanded and painted, with a little bit of Bondo for a gouge or two where we got a little overzealous with the grinder. Naturally, the monsoon rains lately haven't been helping keep all that unpainted metal rust-free, but my sanding skills have been improving!
Her interior is... well, in need of help, and should be replaced entirely at some point, but that's further down the list. Besides, the milk crates holding up the backs of the seats are kinda growing on me.
Anyway, I'm hoping to learn a lot more about my Camaro as time goes on, and if (more like when) I ever need to ask you all for help, I promise to ask the Google first (so I'm not completely unprepared) and also to use the forum 'search' function before I go spamming new threads all over the place.
I look forward to getting to know you folks! Oh, and if anyone would like to see pics of my car, including photos of any work-in-progress, feel free to check her out at http://www.rhantz.com/projects/Eleanor At some point when I get some time, I'll organize and "pretty-up" that page a bit more.
Rawdge; Let me be the first to say "Welcome to TGO!" It sounds like you are off to a good start. There is no introduction board, and you are posting in the right place.
